05/31/2023 The Big House – Math Exam Prep and Ankle Mobility

May 31, 2023

WHEN: 05/31/2023
QIC: Maraschino
PAX: Beaujolais, Bobby, DeWater, Dueling Banjos, Dunphy, Madden, Marky Mark, Nighthawk, Nitro, Paper Jam, Shuggah Shack, Spit Bucket, Splashback, Stinky Pete, Vice, Zook
ME HEADCOUNT: 17
EC HEADCOUNT: 4
COFFETERIA HEADCOUNT: 3

I was looking forward to getting back to the AO that is actually closest to my house but that I rarely post at because Wednesdays are my default "rest day." I did not, however, realize until yesterday (when Zook kindly reminded me) that I would have the Q. I am now reworking my schedule to make The Big House a more frequent occurrence in my life. A great group of HIMs and a site conducive to working lots of muscle groups.

There was no theme to this Q going into it, but several PAX were complaining about still being sore from the Murph on Monday and Nitro's core-centric Q at the Jag on Tuesday. We therefore decided to focus on ankle mobility. Several PAX also struggled with some of the counting, so we also discussed the fact that the Math EOGs were being administered today.

4 for EC (2 rucked and 2 on the playground)

WARM-A-RAMA
25 IC SSHs
10 IT WMHs
10 Super-Slow Mountain Climbers (focusing on getting the knees to the elbows)
5 Super-Slow Merkins (down for 3, hold for 3, up for 3)
10 IT Hillbilly Squats
10 IC LBACs (with optional calf stretch)
10 IC Reverse LBACs
Count off.

THANG #1 (Square Root)
Find a parking space.
Bear crawl forward. 1 Merkin. Bear crawl to the right. 2 Squats. Crawl bear. 3 Carolina Dry Docks. Bear crawl to the left. 4 SSHs (single count).
Repeato, increasing the rep count each time, so Round 2 is 2 Merkns, 4 Squats, 6 Dry Docks, and 8 SSHs and Round 3 is 3 Merkins, 6 Squats, 9 Dry Docks, 12 SSHs, etc.
Goal was to get to ten rounds. We stopped after five. Math is hard.

THANG #2 (Negative Numbers)
Mosey to circle and find a wall.
3 rounds of the following: 10 left Bulgarian split squat, 10 right Bulgarian split squat, 10 left step up, 10 right step up, 10 IC curtsey lunges, and 10 IC Johnny Dramas
After rounds 1 and 2, run a lap around the circle. After round 3, mosey down to the bottom of the hill and AYG to the top.
Round 1 was together. Rounds 2 and 3 were OYO.

THANG #3 (One is the Loneliest Number–and can also be expressed many ways.)
Mosey to the courtyard behind the clubhouse (near the entrance to the pool).
PAX hold People's Chair while each PAX moseys to a "dry spot" in the courtyard and does one burpee.
PAX alternate People's Chair and Balls-to-the-Wall until each PAX has gone.
Recover. AYG back to the AO.

MARY
20 IC Flutters (led by Madden)
20 IC Heels to Heaven
10 IT left side plank (with hip dip)
10 IT right side plank (with hip dip)
Plank Ring of Fire with each PAX contributing plank jacks (for ankle mobility, of course)

Moleskin
As I was driving to the AO this morning, I was thinking about that anti-drug ad that ran in the 90s where a dad catches his son smoking pot (I think), and he asks where the son learned it from. The son replies: "I learned it from you, Dad. I learned it from you." We often talk about the flaws we inherited from our parents and sometimes see our own shortcomings in our kids. It is challenging when that happens. When I read Lightweight's note on the Kenan channel about his 2.0 talking about all that she had learned from posting for the first time this past Monday, I was also reminded of the positive things our kids (and others' kids) can learn from us. We cannot help but make an impression. Let's make it a positive one.

Random observation: There are 26 letters in the alphabet. There were 17 PAX in attendance, but the F3 names only represented 8 letters. Math is weird.

Aye.
