03/08/2022 The Piranha – Expansive Homage to the Churham AOs

March 8, 2022

WHEN: 03/08/2022
QIC: Boucher
PAX: Awesome Baby, Cardiac, Castaway, Count Chocula, Fiddlestick, Geppetto, Loonie, Kia, Pallino, Weed n Feed,
ME HEADCOUNT: 11
EC HEADCOUNT: 4

YHC has been given the honor to serve as the Churham Expansion Co-Q alongside Vice and has been thinking of ways to convey the support and role of the Churham Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the current over-arching goals:
1. To develop a purpose statement for the SLT that is aligned with the mission of F3
2. To promote the mental health of the PAX in F3 Churham

YHC was planning to have a little fun with "mystery" Co-Q Vice, but a miscommunication and following a slow driver to the Piranha AO, had YHC arriving just in time and in need of a slight audible.

YHC shared with the 10 assembled PAX that we would be paying homage to the Churham AOs, memorable features, exercises, and some expansions that went in another direction.

Warm-up
SSH IC x 20
IW IC x 10
HB IC x 10
Arm Circles IC x 10 (Forward big/little, backward big/little)
Michael Phelps IC x 10
Willie Mays Hayes IC x 10
5 Burpees

We plank held, and YHC called on random PAX to choose one of the 5 Core Principles to recite. The PAX would be in a high plank, and when YHC called on someone to call out…There was some solid support from the PAX
Mission: To plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership in F3 Churham. The 5 Core Principles are:
● Free of charge
● Open to all men
● Held outdoors, rain or shine, heat or cold
● Ends with a Circle of Trust
● Led by men who participate in the workout in a rotating fashion with no training or certification necessary

Mosey around the filbert back to the bollards (as a tribute to the great running options at the Eagle)

The Thang
The next AO we payed tribute was originally known as Fetzer (which was on the footprint that is now Fetzer Field) and during construction in 2017 relocated to Kenan. Led by Shooter as the Site Q for 7+ years, he is an absolute bad-ass and someone YHC knew personally for 20 years and didn't know he was such a bad ass. YHC made some poorly phrased comments about his age/maturity/experience which may have rubbed one or two of the PAX in attendance the wrong way…and one of the themes Shooter Led was a circle of body weight and steal stations…In that theme, each of the PAX led 10 reps of an exercise – we had some body weight squats, merkins, lunge jumps, Carolina Dry Docks and an assortment of other goodies.

We moseyed to the side parking lot and circled up and counted off by 2s. In a theme similar to Pleasantville where the workout is generally split into a more bootcamp style group and then the groups reunite at the end. The 1s ran another lap around thee filbert, while YHC led the twos in AMRAP 8 count body builders.

We then bear crawled to the cinder blocks with a merkin every forth step in tribute to Vortex and Assisi another OG bad ass and long time Site Q. Sweats is another legend – someone who brought it both physically, spiritually and mentally and left a legacy of vision quest, The Big Dance (Know known as Owl Theory) and kettle bell swings, which was a regular EC with the unforgettable sweet pea. We used the cinder blocks for 3 sets of kettle bell swings, an AMAZING exercise and Loonie was kind enough to offer some tips on form and we mixed in some alternating off-set merkins, upright rows and bent over rows in between sets.

We then moseyed to the picnic tables for some coyote uglies and dips (as a tribute to the friendliest AO) and then used the swings for 10 swerkins for each PAX in groups of three who called out a lower body exercise (squats, tuck jumps, one legged squats) for the non-swerkining PAX.

We then moseyed to the basketball court, for some separator sprints (endline to halfway, back to endline to full court, back to endline back to halfcourt, back to endline) as a tribute to HOP and Rameses as we moseyed up the back way via the service road up to the startex. We traveling burpeed up to the startex for a brief semi-dynamic Floyd Plank (Yeah Tobacco Road!) and finished with…

Heels to Heaven IC x 20.

Moleskin
YHC mismanaged the time a bit and didn't get enough of the AOs and amazing HIMs who made them special. Apologies to those PAX wanting to see what exercises and names were highlighted for the other schools in the area. YHC also wanted to creatively share some of Expansion efforts that didn't sustain. The commonality between the ones we mentioned is that the Site Q and Workout Qs are in alignment and supportive of one another and follow the frameworks offered, while maintaining authenticity and relevance.

Awesome Baby shared a new process for Romper Room – if the temperature is under 40, this AO is cancelled for that workout.

COT
It was a great to be with the friendliest AO in Churham. The PAX were supportive and responsive and patient as we worked through the audible. It was fun to think back of those PAX that inspired YHC and think about how you can be that inspiration to someone in a similar way. Bring F3 to those that need it and don't know, and bring health and motivation to those who know they need F3.

Aye!
