02/18/2022 The Wall – CHAD1000X

February 18, 2022

WHEN: 02/18/2022
QIC: Zook
PAX: Brotox, Cricket, Marky Mark, Paperjam, Whitefish, Cousin Vinny, ICE
ME HEADCOUNT: 8
EC HEADCOUNT: 3

YHC Pulled into the AO a few minutes early today because it was actually warm enough to hang out and small talk. The night before I had promised a NO running, stay dry routine to avoid the rain. Alas there was no rain on this beautiful 65 degree day. 8 PAX had hard committed the night before but with the lights being broken at the AO (Nighthawk, get your site fixed) it was tough to see who was there to join the fun. Turns out 8 PAX where there to meet the challenge for the day, but 4 of the HC's were not. Oh well onto the workout.

WARM-UP
– Frankentsteins IC x 10
– WMH IC x 10
– Slow Squats IC x 10
– Monkey Humpers IC x 10

MAIN EVENT
– walk to the shelter and make sure picnic tables ready to be used
– the workout is the CHAD1000X HERO WOD. Its 1000 stepups for time technically, but we would do sets of 50. In lieu of ten count, after 50 reps, each PAX was requested to give a quote from the movie Tommy Boy. If unable to complete, the PAX would do a merkin for each person that could not give a quote. No repeating quotes but quotes did not need to be exact.
– We made it to 600 before time ran out.

MARY
– some leg stretches

MOLESKIN
– In most cases it was 4 merkins. PAX did an awesome job recalling the movie.
– Marky mark loves to set the scene and then give the quote
– Homework for Cricket is to watch the movie 10 times this weekend.
– YHC appreciates the PAX giving this workout a shot. It was tough and something I've always wanted to try but would never do on my own.
– Cousin Vinny stayed around with YHC to knock another 150 step ups. YHC then finished all 100 on my own.

COT
– YHC told a story about his sons basketball game this past weekend in which he gave a direction to his son and he followed what I said perfectly. Unfortunately that cost the team a turnover because he LITERALLY did exactly what I told him. "dribble the ball down the court son" This made me think a lot about how many other things in life we assume our kids or M's know but we either don't tell them these things because we assume they know them already, or they don't understand the sarcasm or assumptions we use when talking to them. This leads to them interpreting what we say differently than what we mean. Obviously words mean a lot, heck we quoted a 25 year old move all morning, so I just encourage the PAX to think about what they say with their friends and family and make sure they understand not just the words you say, but the meaning of them as well.
