It was a cool and crisp new years day at #thethicket as we kicked off 2024 with a 7:30AM, family friendly, start time. As YHC approached the AO several cars of regular PAX and their 2.0's exited ready for the workout. Mouth of the South introduced himself right away and let it be known that he would not be intimidated by any old man workout leader. That kid's got moxie.
Warm Up:
* SSH, WMH, Arm Circles, Windmills
Main Event:
* Mosey to the field for some friendly races. Where the winner of said race would call the exercise. Some winners included Marky Mark, Mouth of the South, Wool E Bull, Upper 90, and Charmander. There was absolutely no hesitation by several of the younger PAX to call out the dreaded burpee. We had at least two sets during this time.
* Next the PAX would mosey up to the basketball court where we broke off into groups of two. There one PAX from each line would square off in a competition to score as many baskets as possible in 30 seconds. The winner would call out an exercise, winner's team would do 5 of those exercises, loser's team would do 10. There were Superman's, more burpees, squats, and dips called out during this event.
* The PAX then moseyed back to the field for a game of kick ball with a spherical pressure vessel incapable of holding air (deflated soccer ball). We made the most of this game playing one inning where each team was able to bat. I'm unsure who won but I do know that Upper 90 tired to stretch a single into a double (catching us all by surprise), dove for second, and injured her hip. Thankfully she is 9 and will heal in 2-3 hours.
