Wedding Workout

September 7, 2018

WHEN: 09/05/2018
QIC: Nickelback
PAX: Buffay, Muzungu, Toast McQueen, Pusher, Cortes, Green Acres, Eddie the Eagle, Nubbin, Milton

YHC had the Q at the Skunk before leaving for a long weekend to celebrate the sister-in-law’s wedding. It got YHC thinking about his own wedding day and thus the “Wedding Workout” theme was born!

Warm-up

  • WMH (10)
  • Plank (until YHC completed the Wedding Workout story theme)
  • And 5 Bonus penalty burpees as the pax could not correctly guess the song I proposed to the M
  • Jog around the parking lot while YHC told the full engagement story

The Thang

The night before the wedding YHC played basketball. So the Pax lined up for some defensive slides because that’s what wins championships (and helps get out the nervous excitement before the big day)

  • Low defensive slides down about 75-100 yards up following the parking lot spots
  • While the pax waited before and after their slides they completed 5 jump shots left handed and 5 jump shots right handed over and over until it burned so good

YHC then relayed the part of the story that during the actual pickup game the night before the wedding, the pastor rolled his ankle badly and had to be carried off. So we did partner carries and more pain:

  • Partner carry 1
  • Swap partners to complete the carry back to the flag
  • We then did bear crawls half way down the parking lot
  • Crab walks the remainder of lot
  • Sprint down lot
  • Reverse run back

YHC continued the wedding tale. We are now at the morning of the big day. YHC goes to put on his groom attire and quickly realizes a mistake. YHC forgot the white dress shirt. There is the suite, the tie, everything else but no dress shirt. To honor this moment during the workout we all took off our shirts:

  • 5 penalty burpees
  • Duck and Weave walk from the parking lot to the front of High School

Back to the actual wedding tale. YHC drove to Wal-Mart with his best man, his brother to see if there was a dress shirt that would fit for the service just hours away. They lived up to its slogan of “Save Money. Live Better.” They delivered on a cheap dress shirt!

So during the workout we duck walked to the high school benches and what did we find? White t-shirts of course! Everyone put on a white shirt (the exact amount provided woo hoo!) and we moseyed around to the football field side.

It was time to recreate the epic walk down the aisle with the groomsmen. So naturally, during the workout we did the Elephant Walk. It’s pretty awkward and awesome. So we did a Ricky Bobby/Elephant Walk to ensure everyone felt the love. We rounded the corner and recovered at the wall.

Along the wedding theme we alternated down the line Balls to the Wall & People’s Chair. However, instead of counting each Pax member shared their wedding dance song choice or favorite song if they were not married. For those that forgot the name of their dance song (like YHC) there were 5 penalty burpees each time. And for just straight out bad songs YHC called our penalty burpees.

After the wall we moseyed to the flag at the parking lot.

At YHC actual wedding he and the M exited after the big kiss down the aisle and then walked back down and went row by row to personally dismiss each one and say hi to all. It took some time and you felt like you were making progress at times and not at others. At the workout, we simulated this action with some…Paula Abduls!

Round 1

  • Bear crawl up 2
  • Crawl bear back 1
  • 5 merkins

Round 2

  • Run up 2
  • Reverse run 1
  • 5 squats

We moseyed back to the end of the parking lot. This is where all the original shirts were laid about. YHC told everyone it was time to get the wedding party started with some hooting, hollering, and running. So we lined up. 1 pax sprinted down to the flag while all other pax members channeled their inner Petey Pablo North Carolina and did what his lyrics said to do:

Take your shirt off, twist it ’round yo’ hand
Spin it like a helicopter
North Carolina! c’mon and raise up

It was a site to behold! A bunch of men dressed in white t-shirts spinning the shirts in the air as each one eventually ran down. That was Mary. That was the wedding workout!

I love some F3. I love the M. What a great way to bring the two together with a wedding workout theme!
