Victims of Our Success

May 22, 2019

WHEN: 05/22/2019
QIC: Cosmo
PAX: Eddie the Eagle, Green Acres, Doi, Scapula, Bellhop, Brotox, Minecraft, TB, Rambler

Had kicked around the idea of proposing a weight loss challenge to the PAX for weeks if not months before finally pulling the trigger in March. Of course had no idea how many if any would take me up on it, so was pleasantly surprised when we got 16 total to kick in $25 and sign up.

From the jump, it was a super lively channel, regularly driven by Green Acres’ steady mumble chatter and bikini pic postings.

Anyone who things Meg Griffin is hotter than this must be starving themselves to the point of delirium.

Lots of fun, and we pushed each other to get the most out of this the whole way.

Many of us went the Keto and/or IF route, so there was much disparagement of cake and other sweets, and much discussion of hunger distraction strategies. Of course, when any of us did cheat, it was immediately documented on the channel.

Flenderson rewarded himself after a 10-mile ruck
Scapula fell victim to office cake.
Anniversary weekend beer for Bellhop, who still managed to lose two pounds after a weekend-long bacchanal.
Green Acres reminded us that Keto = delicious.
And here’s a pic of YHC avoiding eye contact with a cupcake at church. It was for my kid, I swear!

All this culminated with a grand total of 176.2 pounds and 39.5 waist inches lost.

We went by combined percentage of weight and waist lost from first weigh-in/measurement to last. Bellhop claimed the grand prize of $240, with Green Acres ($120) and Brotox ($40) not far behind for the silver and bronze. Alas, YHC narrowly came in 4th and out of the money but was happy with getting down to sophomore year of college weight. Now just need to go sub-freshman 15 and will be in business. Good thing we are going to keep the party going with weekly and monthly challenges. Join the channel to get in on this!

Those who didn’t place still made significant, noticeable progress. Eddie the Eagle was the overall pounds loser, shedding 27! He was looking pretty studly out this morning for our workout to celebrate the completion of the Fat A$$ Challenge.

YHC came up with a workout that felt fitting. 216 burpees – one for every pound and inch lost. Victims of our success indeed. Explained at the outset that this would emulate the FAC in that it is difficult, boring, but ultimately rewarding. Plus, we now know well that having a group of people around to support and push you can help you get through anything.

Broke the burpees into various chunks of 5, 10, 15 and 20, switching ends of the field at Hooker at every 50. Mumblechatter was pretty consistent, considering we were in the midst of. a buttload of burpees. At one point, YHC tried to give Green Acres five penalty burpees when he started talking smack about the Hurricanes, but he rightly pointed out that’s not how penalty burpees work, so we all did them to get our grand total to 221. Thanks, GA! Pushing us to the very end.

Had five minutes left after the burpee fest for

BOM

Prayers of gratitude for this group of fun-loving and encouraging brothers, and for the strength to make the improvements we need to make to our bodies. Asked for forgiveness for the ways we have not taken care of the gift of our bodies, and asked for continued strength to get where we need to be physically, because we know it can only make us stronger in mind and spirit.
