Uzi, Take the Wheel

April 26, 2019

WHEN: 04/26/2019
QIC: Cosmo
PAX: Uzi, Dean Wormer, Scapula, Malware

Perfect weather for a Ruck PT session this morning at Hooker Fields.

Pretty easy Q, as we were knocking out one of the April WOD Challenges for those of us participating, so most laid out.

Conversation during first warm-up lap and beyond, naturally, centered on the topic Weezer broached yesterday. It’s a good discussion to have. The general consensus seemed to be that we would all do well to make sure we don’t let a theme get in the way of a solid workout, but that this doesn’t seem to be a persistent problem at the AOs we frequent.

Quick warmup, then WOD:

Ruck 1 mile (with jerry can, sandbag and 20# plate YHC brought) – 18 minute time hack to avoid 20 8-count bodybuilders – Did it in a tidy 16:30

Then 10 sets each of
10 Russian Twists (each side)
10 Merkins
10 Overhead Squats

It was harder than it sounds.
Then ruck 1 coupon mile with goal of 16 minutes or less. Crushed it in 13:30 thanks to Uzi’s prodding, encouragement and example. Also, Dean Wormer can haul ass with a Jerry can.

Plenty of time for more fun.
8 8-count bodybuilders (YHC has to get his plate situation down, as the noggin took a few lumps.)
One more round of 10 hammers, merkins and squats.
Chest press X 52
Bent Over Rows X 36
Chest press X 52
Bent Over Rows X 25
10 burpees OYO

Malware had to duck out at 6:15, so the four remaining had time to get in 0.75 coupon miles, fast at Uzi’s insistence.

Finished with 20 overhead claps IC and 10 burpees.

Headed to the parking lot to beat out an approaching storm, only to find that beautiful, beautiful Milhouse (YHC’s vehicle) had a flat.

Uzi quickly disabused YHC of trying to make it to an air pump and got us into action. After removing all the coupons and, ahem, other junk that was blocking access to the spare in the trunk, we got to work. Uzi went to town on those lugnuts, and we all did our bit to make it a relatively smooth affair. Maybe 10 minutes. It was pretty awesome. Really grateful this happened when it did. Would have been much more of a pain otherwise. Thanks, brothers.

“Thanks, Dad!” I swear, I helped.
