Uproar Rows

November 13, 2017

WHEN: 11/06/2017
QIC: Nickelback
PAX: Fish and Chips, Virgo, Hightower, Toast, Nickelback (Q)

Some Qs are more memorable than others and this one will stick with me for a long time. First it was YHC’s first Rock Q. Hillsborough’s second launch site which boasts a cool round about for warm-ups, a park, hills, and even a secret bridge walkway up the rock hill. But it was the effort of the Pax that I will recall most from this Q.

Warm-Up

Stretch, stretch, stretch was the name of the game for warm-ups this morning. YHC was nursing a pulled muscle and made the Pax enjoy some butterfly stretches, hips, and legs. Once we felt nice and limber it was time to get after it.

The Thang

Round About

The Pax circled up in the plank position on the roundabout grass area. One Pax member would leave the plank circle and run a lap around the round about. The remaining Pax members held the plank but to make things more interesting we had a rucksack that was being passed around the circle-all while in the plank position. Once the running returned he tagged one man out and joined the ruck drag game. Repeato until all had run.

Park Circuit Stations

We moseyed to the park area and YHC separated the Pax into the following 5 min exercise stations:

  • Balls to the wall/people’s chair
  • Pull-ups
  • Upright rows with ruck
  • Dip station

Due to the odd number of Pax that morning and the planning of YHC we had 5 min left but 1 Pax still needed to crush the Ruck Upright Rows station. Therefore we had Mary while Toast finished up rows. Before he started YHC told him the numbers had gone up each time on rows from 100, 107, 115, to the current number of 121. We proceed with Mary thinking he was inspired enough.

Mary

  • LBCs
  • 6 inch leg hold
  • Scissors
  • Russian Hammers

We timer buzzed 5 minutes and we looked over at Toast. His arms hung heavy and his lungs gasped as he reported the final number….145. It was awesome. Cheers abound we closed out the morning with announcements.

COT

  • Hightower’s father and his cancer diagnosis
  • Buffay who was out sick
  • Announcement of Hillsborough 2nd F at Nickelback’s house on Nov 10th for the Pax + families for dinner and bubbly

Moleskin

Postive peer pressure. We all know the negative side of it, but this morning it was great to witness the Pax push one another on and achieve higher and higher numbers. Upon completion of the exercise YHC hurriedly typed out an update which came out to an “Uproar Rows” legend was born this morning rather than upright rows…I think that accurately describes what happened during the gloom. It’s great to get pushed in a positive way to begin the day.
