Those Burpees Were Fun

September 15, 2017

WHEN: 09/15/2017
QIC: Coco
PAX: Hollywood (FNG), Canyouhearmenow?, Horny Toad, John Boy, Kosher, Fieri, Closer, Goat Cheese, Germ, Nitro, Fat Cat, Sneaky Shoes, Bright Idea, Podrick, Chum, Rick Roll (FNG), Bunyan, Stinky Pete, Skynyrd, Mothman, Yanni, Boyardee, Link, Nescafe, Marky Mark, Red October, Duplo, Dueling Banjos, Rambler, Coco (QIC)

7 EC ruckers navigated their way around through the mean streets of Briar Chapel for a warmup loop.
1 solo PAX gutted it out for solo Spartan training.  While the ruckers enjoyed fellowship and 2.5 miles of good living, I’m quite certain the solo Spartan chalked up the following stats:
50 spear throws (99.9% accuracy rating); 150 burpees; 200 pullups; 5 mile sprint.  The solo PAX (initials: SP) was barely even sweating when the remaining 23 PAX converged at The Wall for the ME.

After a quick intro & disclaimer for our 2 FNGs – we got warm by obliging (partially, at least) Fieri’s request for 202 SSH.

The Warm Up
SSH (x102 IC) – 100 more assigned as homework.
BWS (x10)
Merkins (x20 IC)

The Thang
The PAX moseyed over to Briar Chapel Parkway (BCP) and up to the intersection with Wildwind Dr.  YHC had logged into the secret spy satellite above BC last night to calculate some advanced measurements and coordinates. YHC identified a stretch of the BCP that was approx. 400 meters long; coincidently the length of one lap around a track.

Borrowing a page out of Au Jus’ playbook, we launched into the ‘Burpee 400’.  Set a timer for 4 minutes; run 400 meters, burpees until your 4 minutes is up.  Evil in its simplicity and seemingly easy description, we finished 4 rounds (1 mile; approx. 8-ish minutes of burpees per PAX) before we moved further into the dark.

Run back up to Wildwind Dr. and hang a hard right.  The advanced satellite imagery suggested that we’d just entered into a horseshoe which would bring us back to the BCP and ultimately back to the AO.  As we descended along Wildwind, Boyardee was aware of YHC’s directional challenge within the massive Briar Chapel enclave and stated that we were essentially ‘going the wrong way’.  However, the course had been scouted from above and we were right on track.

1st street sign: 5 burpees. Plank. Recover and keep moving.
2nd street sign: 5 burpees. 10 merkins. Plank.
3rd street sign: 5 burpees: 10 merkins. 15 BWS. Plank.
(The PAX passed around the horn of the horseshoe and began our ascent back up to the BCP).
4th street sign: 5 burpees. 10 merkins. 15 BWS. Plank.
5th street sign: 5 burpees. 10 merkins. Plank.
6th street sign: 5 burpees. Plank.

With only a few more minutes on the clock we moseyed back to the AO to chalk up 2 miles on the GPS.
We used our final 1:30 for Mary.

Flutters (x50 IC).
