The warm season is here! Oh wait….

March 21, 2018

WHEN: 03/21/2018
QIC: Fieri
PAX: Stinky Pete, RG3, Chum, Rambler, Dueling Banjos, Spinner, Zook, 8-bit, Grunge

3 PAX met for EC ruck and 7 more joined for the ME. Today is the first full day of spring, and that means warmer weather, or at least it is supposed to. The forecast of cold, snowy weather meant a number of PAX chose to fartsack. That left us with 10 which provided for a more ‘intimate’ group. Given the warm weather theme, YHC decided to take the PAX on a ‘beach vacation.’

ME

Warm season is here (or at least on the way) so time to go on vacation! First up, gotta drop the dog off. Run from the AO to the dog park (bottom of Hill Creek and Great Ridge). On the way drop and do 10 burpees OYO.

At dog park, do a jump squat pyramid (x10, e.g. x1, x2, x3….x10, x9, x8. etc) and a curb derkin pyramid (x10) in order to get the PAX ‘beach ready’.

Time to head to the beach! Run from dog park to intersection of Bennett Mountain and Briar Chapel Parkway. Now that we’re at the ‘beach’ we have to ‘show off’ a bit. 10 power curb urkins, 20 WWIIs, 20 Carolina dry docks, 10 more burpees OYO, and 10 more power curb urkins.

Time to head home (we’ll get the dog later)! Run up BC Parkway to the traffic circle where PAX then did PAX jumps (two cycles through) where each PAX lined up in plank position and the PAX at the end of the line then jumped over the planking PAX. Total distance covered was 2 miles.

Back to the AO for some Mary.

Most folks know that YHC does not like posting in cold, nasty weather, so signing up to Q on the first full day of spring felt like a safe move. When I saw the forecast was for snow I had to laugh at the cruel twist of irony. You can’t always control the cards you’re dealt; you have to play the ones you have in your hand and make the best of them, and in my experience if you try to make the best of what you could perceive as a bad situation, it will often turn out just fine. In this case it turned out pretty good as the snow held off until we finished.
