Chef Tell reporting as QIC and YHC…
YHC took the red pill this morning, did not snooze the 0445 alarm, and met Yanni and Bunyan for the 0500 EC Ruck. Solid time with an enjoyable fellowship pace ruck through The Encore. This was my first EC ruck. YHC has previously made the choice to not rise earlier, but what”s an extra 30 minutes of sleep anyway. I”d like to encourage the PAX to fold this into your routine. It”s a great time for 2nd F. Also, Marky Mark and Boyardee tackled EC Murph training this morning. More to come on that later.
One can tell that summer is creeping around the corner. This morning”s game time temperature hovered around 70, with 70% humidity. Solid beatdown weather! 18 PAX, including 1 FNG. Strong turnout for the emerging top Friday AO destination in Churham.
Warm up:
Circle up in parking lot. YHC delivered the disclaimer and we began.
SSH
Windmills
Standard Merkins
Air Squats
Overhead Claps
The Thang:
Indian Run around the big loop. YHC discussed the importance of not letting a gap form in the line. It takes an extra 1% to keep the gap from forming. However, it can take up to 50% more effort to close the gap once it forms. We reached our main event destination.
YHC led the PAX on to the tennis courts for “The Suicide Squad.”
The Suicide Squad:
6 rounds of suicides – suicide variations included Standard Run, Walking Lunge, Bear Crawl, and Power Skip. Our “recovery time” consisted of squat holds, standard Merkins, plank variations, and Robin Ventura”s. Strong work by the PAX. YHC is encouraged by the “no man left behind” camaraderie displayed today. Great job of ensuring all men made it through this beatdown.
Next up, mosey to our final stop: The Rockpile. YHC did a recon mission yesterday to make the best use of our surroundings. The Rockpile seemed like the perfect finisher. Each PAX grabbed a rock for two rounds of rock curls, rock press, rock squats, and rock triceps extensions.
Mary:
Circle up in the grass for a quick Mary session.
YHC introduced the American Hammer to the group. YHC is not a fan of Russia. I am a proud American. Accordingly, we did American hammers. Mixed in some flutter kicks and more planks. GASSED!
COT
After the big success of the Guest Q and Virgin Q months, next up will be Secret Q Month. The Q, the date, the theme will be shrouded in mystery. More details to come on Slack, so chime in there if you want in.
Welcome FNG Scuba! Strong first posting. RESPECT.
Murph Challenge – A beatdown inspired by Lt. Michael P. Murphy. A true test of strength and endurance. Visit this link to make a donation to the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation and sign up for the national challenge: https://themurphchallenge.com/. The men of The Thicket are doing The Murph on Tuesday 30 May 17 at The Thicket AO. Marky Mark and Boyardee are in full swing with Murph training. I”d encourage the PAX to participate. You are all capable of completing this workout.
YHC closed out today”s COT with a message on “Who is the Q?” The Q is the leader who is responsible for the outcome of a mission. We are the leaders of this community. It is our responsibility to bring the Q mindset not only to F3, but into the other environments we operate in on a daily basis. The Q is the man who makes sacrifices for his wife and kids. The Q is the man who brings positive encouragement to each person he interacts with, every day. The Q is dedicated to improving the lives of others; to being a better husband, father, brother, son, friend, manager, coach, and any other role you play in life. We are the Q.
Men, I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead you this morning.
