We all get to choose the standard we live by. In what we choose to do for a living, who we choose to marry, who we spend our time with, the words we say, and the effort and care we put into things we are demonstrating to the world our standard that we have set. Through each of these things, we say, “This is what I stand for, and this is how I value myself.” For many, this is not a conscious exercise but merely responding and reacting, cobbling together strategies and philosophies piecemeal as the days pass by. For others, there is a clear and steady compass guided by principles, beliefs in what is right, and empathy for others. You have to battle to uphold the standard – against impulses, bad influences, moments of weakness, and sometimes plain forgetfulness. There is something refreshing that comes from the good souls who mind a standard; you know what you are going to get from them.
F3 presents a great showcase for our standards. Do we show up? Do we push ourselves? Do we go too far? Do we help our fellow brethren? What irony that a truly self-indulgent desire to improve one”s self is only accomplished only through the energy made possible by the social ties of F3. Since I have been part of the enterprise, I have noticed PAX raising standards, their own and by extension, the group”s. The more you value yourself and higher standard you set for yourself, the better off PAX will be. To all PAX new and old, I say find your standard, set it, and do not look back. And with all of the challenges ahead of you, don”t cling to tightly to whatever status quo you”ve gotten used to. Remember that it may very well kill you, but it won”t hurt you!
Oh, right, you wanted a backblast? HoP presents an expansive blank concrete canvas on which to paint. And paint 19 PAX did. The workout was full of Floyd planks, though YHC did not call any of them out as formal exercises. The strength of the workout is strongly positively correlated to the number of voluntary Floyd planks executed by PAX.
