The Pyramids of Meadowmont

August 3, 2017

WHEN: 08/03/2017
QIC: Coco
PAX: Ocho, Newt, Night Shift, Poser, Blindside, Draper, Au Jus, Blackball, Coco

2 EC runners (Au Jus & Blackball) and 1 EC cyclist (Ocho) made their way to OCL under their own foot & pedal power as the rest of the PAX continued to establish our carbon footprint on this world.  (Exception: Newt – who is the proud new(-ish) owner of a pretty cool Chevy Bolt. Cool Newt!)

The Warm Up
SSH (x25 IC)
BWS (x10 IC)
Merkins (x10 IC)
Shoulder Press (x0)

The Main Event
I like pyramids. I like multiple pyramids.  They’re simple, but not easy.  And I like running. Blindside does not like running.  This should be fun.  Total current number of shoulder presses: 0

With YHC’s Garmin adjusted to buzz every 1/10 mile along our leisurely Tour de Meadowmont, we took off into the gloom for the following:
1/10 mile:  1 BWS; 1 Burpee;   1 Flutter;   1 Merkin
2/10 mile: 2 BWS; 2 Burpees; 2 Flutters; 2 Merkins
3/10 mile: 3 BWS; 3 Burpees; 3 Flutters; 3 Merkins
4/10 mile: 4 BWS; 4 Burpees; 4 Flutters; 4 Merkins
5/10 mile: 5 BWS; 5 Burpees; 5 Flutters; 5 Merkins
6/10 mile: 6 BWS; 6 Burpees; 6 Flutters; 6 Merkins
7/10 mile: 7 BWS; 7 Burpees; 7 Flutters; 7 Merkins

At this point we’d arrived at the UNC Wellness Center for our mid-run recovery exercise: merkin pyramid (1:10).  Each PAX made it to at least 50 pullups (some managed a few more) before we moved on from the pullup bars.  The UNC Wellness Center staff had already prepped the bars with bands, tires & water and were awaiting their inbound clients. Total current number of shoulder presses: 0

We moved from the bars to the parking lot to keep rolling on our pyramind.
8/10 mile: 8 BWS; 8 Burpees; 8 Flutters; 8 Merkins
9/10 mile: 9 BWS; 9 Burpees; 9 Flutters; 9 Merkins
1 mile: 10 BWS; 10 Burpees; 10 Flutters; 10 Merkins
Total current number of shoulder presses: 0

Finding the paved path through Meadowmont, we made our way back to the launch point while working out way all the way back down the pyramid. Total current number of shoulder presses: 0

We finished by hitting the 2 mile mark with a final sprint back up the hill to the stop sign, completing the final stages of the pyramid with 3/3/3/3 (BWS/Burpees/Flutters/Merkins).
Total current number of shoulder presses: 0

Given our 100 total flutters, we’d incorporated enough Mary into the ME.  The clock had just struck 0615 – so we called it a day.

COT
Potential TBR convergence to TBL on Sept. 2 given Carolina’s first home game (12p) against Cal.  Stay tuned for more details and confirmation.
Continued thoughts, prayers & support to Night Shift (& our other brothers) who are managing job searches and career transitions.  YHC is reminded of the strength & breadth of our respective networks and the ability (requirement?) we have to help our brothers reestablish themselves in a rewarding and well-suited role.
Slack channel #F3Business is also a great resource.  Take advantage.

Aye!
