WHEN: 06/13/2017
QIC: Shake It
PAX: Shake It, Pi, Harbaugh, Big Cat, Kitten, Tiny Dancer, Road Runner (FNG), RevRun, Au Jus, Misery, Stink Bomb, Striker, Newt, EZ Pass, Cooter, Night Shift, Jetson, Dungeon Master, Shovel, Bushwood, Foot Fault, Skipper, Food Lion, Headlock, Python, Poser

A common thing across Q”s this week, especially for those that posted at TBL on Saturday, will be getting inspiration from our Special Operators. One thing YHC learned from Brass Ball was the importance of working as a team. With that in mind YHC wanted to a Q a workout where teamwork would be one of the main focuses. The other primary focus, pain. 26 PAX would be foolish enough to show up at the Vortex in the gloom.
Warm-Up:

  • Lap around Cedar Falls Park
  • SSH x30 IC
  • WMH x10 IC
  • Good mornings x10 IC
  • Burps x10 IC
  • Plank Jacks x10 IC
  • Burp Jacks x10 IC

The Thang:
YHC decided to steal an idea from a Food Lion Q months back and have the PAX run a fast lap around the Vortex and line up as the lap was completed. YHC was then able to number off the PAX into groups of 3 that would be theoretically about the same speed. Here”s a confusing breakdown of what we did:

  • #3 stayed at the start line and would perform jump squats
  • #2 moved to the opposite corner of the field and would perform merkins
  • #1 is positioned at the start line and will be sprinting.
  • #1 sprints to the opposite corner. When they arrive #2 takes off and #1 will now be doing merkins. When #2 arrives at the start, #3 takes off and #2 now starts on squat jumps.

Groups continue moving until each person has completed 4 laps around the field. This was an excessive amount of instructions for the PAX to follow, but it looked more or less the way YHC envisioned it.
At this point people were breathing heavy, and it was explained to me that this wasn”t the Goat. But does the Goat make you do four sets of AMRAP merkins until your arms fall off, or until your lying face first in a bunch of annoying rubber pellets that stick to you because you can”t do another merkin? Didn”t think so.
YHC learned from the LEGO Movie that everything is cool when you”re part of a team. PAX stayed in groups to do some Dora with a twist. Each group was taxed with completing 150 derkins. #1 would hold a high plank while #2 performed derkins with his legs resting on #1”s back. #3 would backwards run to midfield and then sprint back. Plank moves to derkins, derkins to running, and running to plank.
Still staying with groups, it was time for a little race across the field. Three man carries to the end of the field and back. The Rule: all men must be carried at least once, and they must be carried for at least half the length of the field. People”s chair when finished.
Mary:

  • Heels to Heaven x10 IC
  • 6 inch scissors x20 IC

COT:

  • Dad”s day at TBR this Saturday @ 7:00. Bring your 2.0”s and neighborhood kids according to Coco
  • September 23rd, Spartan run to support our Special Operators. The plan is to run the race as a PAX. If you”ve never run a Spartan race, this is the opportunity you”ve been waiting for.
