The Gloom Dali

7 PAX packed the park for a potentially potent and problematic performance by YHC as the Q. YHC had been providing several Qs both in person and virtually in recent times, so the PAX knew YHC was at the top of his game. The PAX wistfully hoped for multiple Floyd Plank reps, but alas, this was not to be. In the end, YHC pulled out two classic gems from days past, “The Gloom Dail” and “Burpee Island” and combined them. Due to the intensity of the beatdown and the insane humidity, by morning’s end, both the PAX and the workout resembled Salvador Dali’s famous painting, “The Persistence of Memory.” (Thanks to some GPS magic and creative thinking by Scapula).

The THANG

Pax circled up in the middle of the field. YHC explained that the middle of the field was actually known as “Burpee Island” and the gods of Burpee Island demand tribute every time someone steps on that hallowed ground. So PAX were asked to pay tribute by giving 5 burpees every time we ended up in the middle. No time like the present…..

5 burpees. (In the end, we stepped onto burpee island 13 times, so 65 burpees total were done over the course of the workout.

The Gloom Dial splits the field into 12 vectors, just like a clock face. We would run to an hour on the clock, do 40 reps of whatever popped in YHC’s head and run back. And don’t forget to do your burpee tribute when you come back to the middle!

12:00- 40 Hand release merkins

4:00: 40 Dips

5:00: 40 Jump Squats

6:00: 40 various merkins (10 T-merkins, 10 Diamond merkins, 10 Wide grip merkins, 5 EKG merkins, 5 clap merkins)

7:00: 40 Alternating Lunges

8:00: Carolina Dry Docks

9:00: 40 Flutter Kicks

10:00: 40 Irkins

11:00: 40 Jump Lunges (1,1,2,2 count)
