The Boys Are Back In Town

January 16, 2017

WHEN: 01/16/2017
QIC: Yanni
PAX: Rebar, Fat Cat, Goat Cheese, Stickman, Duplo, Boyardee, No Money, Skynyrd

The following is a true story based on actual events that happened in the early morning hours of January 16th 2017. Names have been changed to protect the innocent.
Sometimes life will throw you a nice surprise like your child doing what you asked the first time or coming home and finding 4 boxes of Thin Mints in the freezer. Then there”s surprises like seeing a PAX member you haven”t seen in a while and it makes you genuinely happy. Skip to 0500 and waiting at the AO is Skynyrd who you haven”t seen in months and he”s ready to rock. Three PAX showed up for the EC run out into the gloom of BC. Upon return another surprise was waiting as the one we call Fat Cat was back. Also on hand was Rebar who made it out to his old stomping grounds. These are the good type of surprises that will make your day. What happened next really happened.

Head out into Briar Chapel. Talk was loud and boisterous as the men discussed football playoffs, UNC basketball and girl scout cookies. The pax agreed that too many cookies are devoured but by the beard of Zeus they”re good. Cookie flavor allegiance can be as heated and debated as college sports, and can get emotional at times. Thin Mints from the freezer should be an American tradition. Let”s work off these cookies…
1) Stopping at a construction site to grab 2 bricks and circle up. First exercise was the squat with a bicep curl to 20. Second exercise was the lunge with a shoulder press to 12, switch legs and repeat. The final exercise was the shoulder fly to 20.
2) Ran down to the bottom of the hill and circled up again in the col-de-sac across from Pollard. YHC had a tennis ball and we would use it in a plank-o-rama-ish thingy where 1 pax member would complete 10 merkins then roll the ball to someone else until all pax members had a turn. The second exercise was another o-rama-ish thing with the tennis ball this time hold an Al Gore until you get the ball then complete 10 squats.
3) Run down to the hill at Pollard Middle School. Time to play a game. This game consisted of rolling a tennis ball up the steep hill and then bear crawl after it. On the ground was written the numbers 8, 6, 4, 2 in that order. Two pax members at a time would roll their balls up the hill and bear crawl after them. Wherever they caught up to their ball was the combined number of burpees the rest of the waiting pax would complete as the 2 bear crawlers would run the rest of the way up the hill and deposit their ball in a box and run back down. Repeat for several rounds. No Money made the ”K-Mart savings play of the game” when he dove with a rolling stop to keep his ball on the other side of the 6 line saving the pax 2 burpees.
4) pick up the game supplies and run back to the AO.

Moleskin
It”s good to have Fat Cat and Skynyrd back with us, and to see Rebar. It”s the caring about each other that makes this thing special. It”s hard to explain that to an FNG, but hang in there long enough and it happens. Go out today and be better than you were yesterday. Till we meet again in the gloom, Aye!
