The end of a great year warrants a great event. And this was not your typical 2nd F event. This was the Second Annual Year-End Banquet/Awards Show/Roast/Beerfest/Cheeseapalooza. The PAX of the southern “Chatham” region of F3 Churham have a lot to celebrate from 2018: new AOs, new FNGs, new site Qs, a new official CSAUP event, and rucking spreading like the plague.
Thus, 25 PAX convened at The Big House to celebrate, eat, drink, and laugh. After the beer and cheese (fountain) began to flow, the PAX watched a video presentation, which included some drone footage from the past year, and then it was time for the awards. These awards came with several disclaimers (and roast-like intros). 1) They are in no way performance based. Just as in the gloom, no one cares how many burpees you can do or how fast you can crawl. They’re just supposed to be funny. 2) They are not participation ribbons. Everyone doesn’t get one. That’s life. 3) They are not intended to answer some of F3’s greatest unanswered questions, such as: Does Rambler sleep? Who is that “crazy roommate” Yanni always references in his BOM? And is Strangebrew an actual PAX, a mythical creature, or Grunge’s make believe running buddy?

In closing, what has continued to develop in Churham – Chatham AOs included – is special. The PAX are grateful for the daily workouts and the community of standout men that they can count on. There’s plenty of fitness, lots of fellowship, but it’s also just fun. And as the PAX celebrate what they have, they also should remember not to become complacent with regards to themselves or the community, so as not to lose this special resource. On to 2019!
