Teen Wolf

October 18, 2021

WHEN: 10/18/2021
QIC: Brotox
PAX: Bump Draft, Splashback, Nitro (Respect!), Quicken (Respect!), Mothman, Marky Mark, Dueling Banjos, Singlet, Jingles, Paper Jam, Spit Bucket, Cousin Vinny

Pre-Blast went out yesterday…the (almost) full moon was upon us, which means it must be full moon Q time!  YHC enjoys signing up for a full moon Q at The Thicket because it affords the opportunity use the soccer field with a little extra light than normal.  I’ve been foiled once before by an overcast morning, but today I was foiled by an entirely different reason–the freakin’ moon had already set by 0530!  Fortunately, those new LED street lamps in the parking lot provide more light down to the field than the old halogen lights ever did.  As promised in the Pre-Blast, this morning would celebrate the 80s classic Teen Wolf, and was accompanied by some 80s movie music soundtrack songs to boot.

Warm-Up

The usual stuff:

  • Side Shuffle Hops x20 IC
  • Imperial Walkers x10 IC
  • Hillbillies x10 IC
  • Harvesters x10 IC
  • Forward and Reverse Arm Circles x10 IC each
  • Michael Phelps x10 IC

The Thang

We moseyed over to the brick pile to grab a pair of bricks each and then headed down to Corner 1 of the soccer field where YHC explained we’d be doing exercises to spell out T-E-E-N W-O-L-F this morning.

  • Corner 1: T, Tammy Wynette (i.e. ‘Stand By Your Man’). Partner Up, Partner 1 does 10 merkins while Partner 2 stands next to them and does 10 squats w/ bricks.  Flapjack.  Mosey to Corner 2 of the soccer field.
  • Corner 2: Complete the T again then move on to the E, Elbow2Knee x10 IC (alternating).  Mosey to Corner 3.  (At some point in Corner 2, Surfin’ USA–Teen Wolf theme song–came up on the playlist so we stopped what we were doing and completed 10 Surfees.)
  • Corner 3: Complete the T and the E again then move on to the second E, Eagle Wings.  It’s like Bat Wings but all while holding your bricks.  We did each exercise (FAC, RAC, Seal Clap, OH Clap) x10 IC.  Mosey to Corner 4.
  • Corner 4: Complete the T, the E, and the E again then move on to the N, Newton’s Cradle.  Plank position w/ bricks in hand.  In cadence, left hand out, left hand back, right hand out, right hand back.  Mosey back to Corner 1.
  • Corner 1: With the TEEN complete, we mercifully forgot about those exercises and moved on to the W, Werewolves.  Downward facing dog to plank to upward facing dog and back all in one smooth move, x10 IC.  Howl at the moon optional while in upward facing dog.  Mosey to Corner 2.
  • Corner 2: Complete the W again then move on to the O, Outlaws.  Flutter kick position and make the letter O with your feet, x5 IC clockwise then x5 IC counter-clockwise.  Mosey to Corner 3.
  • Corner 3: Complete the W and the O again then move on to the L, Louganis (named after 80s diving star Greg Louganis). Big Boi Situp while holding bricks overhead, x20 IC. Mosey to Corner 4.
  • Corner 4:
  • Complete the W, the O, and the L again then move on to the F, Floyd Plank.  Finish it off with a good 10-count Floyd Plank.

We returned our bricks to the brick pile and then lined up on the back of the school for some Balls to the Wall (like handstands on the van) and a few more Surfees.  Finally, we headed back to StartEx to wrap it up.

COT

Two things:

  1. The enthusiasm for F3 in BC seems to be dwindling.  Numbers are down across the BC AOs and it’s not just due to Covid.  We need to do a better job of getting out PAX who don’t show up anymore and getting out some FNGs.
  2. There are only 75 days left in 2021.  If you have any unfinished 2021 Goals, you’ve still got time to finish them.  It’s also a great time to think about 2022 Goals and get a jump start on them.  A little bit of effort on them over the next 75 days will really build the momentum for what you want to accomplish in 2022.

Until next time, AYE!
