Tater Comes Out of Hibernation

August 17, 2020

WHEN: 08/17/2020
QIC: Shake It
PAX: Magellan, Roach, Green Egg, Farkus, Larry Legend, Dial Up, Blanch, Tatertot, Fresh Prince

64 degrees!! It was about time the temperature dropped to something reasonable. YHC and Dial Up celebrated the dip by doing a little bit of track work for EC. We did 400 meter repeats with 400 meter recoveries. YHC gave notice the day before that today’s workout would involve a coupon, so bring one if you have one. YHC brought extra coupons and Lysol wipes, and all PAX were able to have their battle buddy for the day. We had 10 PAX in total, including the return of the King of the North, Tatertot.

Warm-Up (in cadence)

  • SSH x25
  • WMH x10
  • LBAC x20 (10 forward, 10 reverse)
  • Overhead Clap x20
  • Good morning x10

The Thang: Battle Buddies

The premise of the Q is that you would be spending the entire workout with your battle buddy, coupon. YHC will do his best to recount the workout as there was some improvising along the way as he was in the hurt locker with his 45 lb kettlebell.

We left the parking lot carrying our coupon overhead until YHC called a stop. We circled up and did 1 minute max KB swings and 1 minute max squats. Coupons back overhead and we continued the march. At the next stop we did 1 minute max bent over rows and a 30 second max overhead press. YHC then had the PAX lunge walk 20 steps with their coupon. With forearms on the verge of failure, we did a set of 20 single count merkins. We then did another round of 1 minute max KB swings and 1 minute max squats. Another 20 lunge walk steps with the coupons. We then carried our coupons, and made our way back towards the football practice field. Needing to give the forearms another break, YHC had everyone drop their weights and we knocked out a set of 15 cadence count air squats. We then carried our coupons the rest of the way to a nice grassy opening.

YHC instructed the PAX to bear crawl with their weight from one tree to the next tree, probably about 20 yards or so. From there, we lunge walked back to the first tree, and then bear crawled back to the second tree. YHC then had the PAX walk the coupons back to the cars to drop them off.

We took a short jog over to the front entrance of Riverside. 2 minute people’s chair.
