Sweats’ Inferno

The best post-Bull hangover cure is a high-tempo Divine Comedy-inspired workout consisting of 9 circles of the Inferno. Dante would have been proud. 13 PAX entered here, but none abandoned any hope.
YHC mustered his best Virgil impersonation, leading the team through 9 different exercises. Each path to each new exercise required a different manner of travel – fraught with peril – and each exercise brought with it ascending and descending reps. Travel distance varied between four corners of the soccer field and the middle of the field. If there”s a descent into the abyss, there must be an ascent at some point, but the descent into Hell can”t be linear, and the way out gets harder by the exercise!

Circles 1-5: Soccer Field

  • Travel to Circle 1: Sprints
  • Circle 1: 10 Burpees OYO
  • Travel to Circle 2: Backward run
  • Circle 2: 20 Air Squats
  • Travel to Circle 3: Walking Lunge
  • Circle 3: 30 Merkins
  • Travel to Circle 4: Sprints
  • Circle 4: 40 Overhead Claps
  • Travel to Circle 5: Bear Crawls
  • Circle 5: 50 Merkins
  • Travel back to Circle 4: Crawl Bear
  • Circle 4: 40 Overhead Claps
  • Travel back to Circle 3: Sprints
  • Circle 3: 30 Merkins
  • Travel back to Circle 2: Sprints

Circles 6-7: The Wall – here we alternated between Balls to the Wall (1 minute each interval) and People”s Chair (2 minute each interval with arms alternating between overhead and side extension) for 10 minutes

  • Travel to Circle 6-7: Recovery Mosey
  • Circle 6: BTTW (1 minute)
  • Circle 7: People”s Chair (2 minutes)

Repeato 3 times

  • Travel to Circles 8-9: Mosey to the wall surrounding the soccer field:
  • Circle 8: 30 dips
  • Circle 9: 30 Imperial Walker Squats
  • Recovery Mosey to the center of the soccer field where PAX were met with a surprise visit to purgatory.

Purgatory: One-legged burpees, 15 each leg, OYO
Mary (or Beatrice, sticking with our Dante theme):

  • 30 Russian Hammers
  • Leg extensions alternating between 80 degrees and 45 degrees
  • Plank holds with right arm/left leg up, left arm/ right leg up

PAX noted that we”re still shaking off some soreness from the Bull. Many (including YHC) can”t discern between bruised shoulders and shoulder soreness from our log carries. But we wouldn”t have it any other way.
