Main Event

A cold fresh wind greeted the form-focused participants in the morning’s rabbit. Focusing on form meant that efficiency is key in running with a slightly forward posture over a mid-sole strike.

All this was forgotten as the PAX labored up a route to the BMX park. In a wildlife rich run 3 deer and a beaver were startled into action by the participants and it is heartening to know we live in an area where this can happen; coming from England an ‘early morning beaver encounter’ has a different meaning entirely…….

On reaching the park YHC was startled to realize that this was Rambler’s 8th straight day of working out in preparation for an insane rucking event in the new year, respect! The PAX then turned around, made like mountain bikes, followed the downhill course back to the main trails and congratulated each other on not breaking any bones.

Returning to BC proper there was enough time for a bit of Fartlek along Bennet Mountain Trace; walk to the first mailbox, jog to the next and sprint to the third. Focusing on form elicited a discussion on technique. YHC mentioned he likes to hold his breath for the first 4-5 steps, and this was greeted with a healthy amount of suspicion and ridicule. Unsurprisingly, Grunge smoked everybody there! Then a mosey back to The Bighouse for Mary O’Rama.

COT

Sometimes with all the craziness in the news it is easy to forget that, statistically, we are actually living the best lives that any humans have ever lived. Disease, wars and poverty are at the lowest levels they have ever been and we should take a moment to appreciate just how lucky we are to be living our lives right now. AYE!
