Sweater Vest and YHC did a tabata workout with KBs to get warmed up for the main event.

Fortunately this would not be a Halloween themed Q on Halloween,  that’s Spooky’s thing anyway.  In fact, in Mexican culture, October 31st starts the Day of the Dead or Dia de Los Muertos.  A holiday and festival to honor our ancestors.  YHC would also be celebrating his 1 year anniversary with F3.  F3 has become such a big part of my life in such a short time.  I’ve found brotherhood and identity, developed confidence and leadership skills, and tackled many challenging goals.  YHC had the honor of being invited by Mumbles and lead by Shooter on my first time out at the AO formerly known as Fetzer.  YHC enjoyed the challenge of the workout, and was completely destroyed half an hour in.  There was going to be a lot of hard work to be able to keep up with some of these stallions.  Here’s the PAX from a year ago, so you can understand what YHC was up against.

Coco (wearing a ruck), Subprime, KJS, Walt, Gordo, Kitten, Au Jus, T.O., Alfalfa, Red October, Beano, My Little Pony, Avalanche, Foreclosure, Maxwell, Cheese Splint, Mumbles, Deep Dish, Honey, Timber, and of course Shooter.

So today YHC decided to replay the workout from a year ago, putting his own spin on a couple of the exercises, but keeping the bulk of it intact.  Little disappointed that after putting all the names on Slack that none of these boys would drive a few extra minutes to Durham, but I understand.  We still had 16 strong, so time to get after it.

Warm-Up: All exercises completed in cadence.

  • SSH x 20
  • Squats x10
  • Windmills x10
  • LBAC forward and reverse x 10
  • Carolina dry docks x 10
  • Merkins x 10
  • Mountain climbers x 20

The Thang:

We moseyed over to the tennis court.  The format of the workout was pretty simple.  AYG sprint the tennis court and then perform 10 squats, 10 merkins, 10 WWIIs, and 10 burpees.  This was done 10 times for a total of 400 reps, hence the title of the original workout being the 400 club.  YHC put in variances of the exercises to keep the PAX on their toes, but left WWIIs intact.

Rounds 1-2: Standard variations

Rounds 3-4: diamond merkins, prison squats, and double merkin burpees

Rounds 5-6: wide grip merkins, one-legged squats, and double burp burpees

Rounds 7-8: slow merkins, alternating lunges, and peter parker burpees

Rounds 9-10: hand release merkins, standard squats, and one-legged burpees

Still had some time on the clock, so hustled over to the covered pavilion to get in a set of dips and a set of step ups.
