“As each day arises, welcome it as the very best day of all, and make it your own possession. We must seize what flees.” – Seneca
Newsflash: you only get one shot at today. Then it is gone. How are you going to handle it?
7 PAX took control this AM and said, “Bring it on!” Bring on what, exactly? Well, for starters, the challenge of “The Eagle” for EC. The Eagle challenge is to hold two KBs loaded at your shoulders and complete 8 squats, then walk 20m with the KBs in farmer”s carry position, and then reload the KBs at the shoulders and do 8 more squats. That”s 1 round. Now do 8 of them. All PAX rocked it and we had some time to spare, so being the fuel-efficient monsters we are, we repped out another 100 KB swings (or more), a few more goblet squats and push-presses. No one ever said this would be easy, but we all knew it would be worth it.
For 15 PAX who showed up for the ME, today stands no chance. We warmed up in the parking lot with a spread of standard appetizers along with some slow merkins. YHC felt it in his arms at this point. Toast city, population: YHC. What I always say in the event of arm fatigue is to blast your legs to get back to equilibrium. This way, your body parts are now equally tired and your poor mind does not know what to pity on a relative basis. I”m not sure this math actually checks out, but it sounds OK in writing and is good enough for me.
Next, 10 laps around the track. Sprint one straightaway, shuffle in the turn, then backwards run the next straightaway, then shuffle out the next turn. Peach and EZ Pass were cruising at high speeds. After 10 pull ups we gathered near some benches for YHC”s favorite ice cream treat. For those of you tuning in this far, you may be thinking, “that has to be Dip n” Dots. NO question!” Well, you”re wrong. Everyone knows it is the Dip n” Derkins. (I”ll be here all week.)
- 30 cadence dips and 20 cadence derkins
- 20 cadence dips and 10 cadence derkins
- 15 cadence dips and 5 cadence derkins
Editor”s note: Completely trashed at this point, and not in a good way. There wasn”t even mumblechatter. It was devastation to the point of mumblegroaning. When this happens, the only antidote is a descending triple ladder.
10, 9, 8 of tuck jumps, jump squats, and diamond merkins all the way to 1.
Then we burpee/merkin/squat complexed from 1 to 10. (1 burpee, 1 merkin, 1 squat; 1 burpee, 2 merkins, 2 squats). PAX were given 4 minutes to complete this and we all did it.
Finally, we ended with a Mary full of Russian Hammers, Flutter Kicks, and Superman holds.
