Santa’s Ladder Is Neither Santa’s Nor a Ladder – Discuss

Plus 2 if you get the headline reference…

YHC scoured the Exicon for Christmas-related fare for this Christmas Eve Eve Q. Happy that four other PAX braved the nasty weather to take part.

-Standard warm-up, then went and grabbed a dumbbell each for Elf on the Shelf. Exicon calls for cinderblock instead of dumbbell. “Start with the [dumbell] on the ground beside you. Grab the [dumbbell] and lift it from the ground across your body reaching up as high as you can. Like putting it on a shelf. After a set from right to left then do left to right. Named after some Elf on the Shelf mumble chatter at a workout around Christmas time.”
Did this X12 twice on each side.

-Then mosey to the far hill for Santa’s ladder: In a nutshell: Ran up the hill from the 20MPH sign for 10 burpees, back to sign for 9 burpees, and so on, stopping at the top of the hill for 6 burpees. Then continued thus with five merkins at the bottom, four merkins at the top and so on. Per the Exicon, the trick with Santa’s Ladder is to make the PAX think you’re done at this point. In fact, only halfway through. Only difference the second time around was started with 10, 9, 8 etc. merkins then switched to burpees at 5, and no break. Great cardio.

-Mosey to track
30 LBC IC – mosey half track
30 Jump Squat – mosey back
30 LBC IC – mosey half track
30 Jump Squat – mosey back
30 Flutters IC – mosey to start

-After some technical difficulties, finally got my phone ready for a little something called Little Merkin Boy: “Play the Christmas song Little Drummer Boy by Bing Crosby. Hold plank and complete one Merkin every time you here “Pa rum pum pum pum”. That is 3 minutes of plank and 21 Merkins. This is a great way to finish a Beatdown during the Christmas season.” Indeed it was, and also a holiday-themed nod to Barksdale’s standard Thunderstruck routine.
-With just a bit of time left, finished with 10 burpees OYO

COT
Clean-up efforts planned after the piranha on Tuesday and Tobacco Road on Thursday, followed by coffeeteria. Get after it.
YHC took us out.

MOLESKIN

Bellhop and YHC briefly entertained of saying to heck with it and grabbing breakfast when we rolled up to an empty parking lot. Shout out to Kia, Pedialyte and Yurt for making sure our better angels won out. Thank you, brothers! Oh. Hold on. Promised myself I wasn’t going to do this. Wait, yes…

Discuss amongst yourselves. I’ll give you yet another topic. The F3 Exercise Elf on the Shelf involves neither an elf nor a shelf, discuss. There, I’m better.

Happy holidays, bubelahs!
