Round 2 Kid Games

January 24, 2019

WHEN: 01/23/2019
QIC: Nickelback
PAX: Buffay, Green Acres, Cortes, Pusher, Nubbin, Milton, Toast McQueen

YHC was back for round 2 of the challenge to Q all three Hillsborough sites. How to outdo a car pull from the previous Q was a challenge so it seemed reasonable to be inspired by partner games and some friendly competition.

Warmup

  • Jog around the parking lot
  • Leap frogs
  • SSHs 10x
  • WMH 10x
  • Stretch OYO

The Thang

YHC excitedly reported that YouTube inspired the following new partner workouts:

  • 2 Arm Partner Plank Holds- 10 count around the circle
  • Partner resistant leg curls 10x flapjack
  • Over the Wire Hops 10x IC flapjack
  • Plyo Pushups (flying Boo-yas!) 4 times to try, that did not result in any injuries so then we did 8 and after seeing Cortes fly off the group YHC decided it was time not to test fate any longer
  • Dragon Walk Merkins

The Pax then Ricky Bobby’d it to the front of the high school. It was time for 4 rounds of competition. Here was the handout that awaited the Pax upon arrival:

The idea was simple. A 3-4 minute timer would start and the Pax would complete an exercise, lap, and then an activity as many times as possible before the timer went out. They would count the number of exercises and put it on the printed scorecard. The “activities” were fun games that included:

  • Horseshoes
  • Putting “green”
  • Rings to throw on a stake
  • Ping Pong paddles & balls
  • Basketball

The rule was you could not repeat any activity until you had completed all of them at least once. Here is how the 4 rounds went:

Round 1

  • 35 Russian Hammer IC!
  • Run a lap around the front parking circle
  • 1 game activity
  • repeat as many times before timer

Round 2

  • 35 LBCs IC!
  • Run a lap around the front parking circle
  • 1 game activity
  • repeat as many times before timer

Round 3

  • 35 SSHs IC!
  • Run a lap around the front parking circle
  • 1 game activity
  • repeat as many times before timer

Round 4

  • 35 Merkins single down count
  • Run a lap around the front parking circle
  • 1 game activity
  • repeat as many times before timer

After some quick math, Buffay came out as the winner of the first Skunk Trip Nip Kid Games. Boom. The pax circled up and prayed it out.

COT

  • Muzungu/family health
  • Milton’s M and meal train for the family
  • Sign-up for the Run ranger run February Challenge! See Slack/Cortes

Moleskin

The Pax embraced the new YouTube inspired partner workouts. It’s amazing how slowly the brain works in the gloom at times but they picked up quickly and crushed it. I think some will stick around, but we shall see. The process of planning a Q can be intimidating especially as you seek immortality by completing the Hillsborough Trip Nip challenge. It’s all about just showing up, trying your best and seeing what happens. Just smile and embrace the experience. Good or bad, it’s all about going “up and to the right” in life. Improving and growing. At the very least-play some fun games!
