Preface: Maraschino and I answered Sherwin’s call for folks to lead Bullpen earlier this year. The only somewhat negative aspect is that it’s about 35 to 40 minutes from Chatham, and we usually hit rush hour on our way back home. With all of that, Bullpen is just a phenomenal site with an unlimited amount of possibility for exercises. The guys that attend this site have a genuine camaraderie, too. Thankfully, Maraschino agreed to clown car it this morning, and these country boys trekked our way to THE city.
The stated temperature wasn’t that bad, but the wind chill knocked the temperature down a bit. Soybean showed up dress for Miami weather, though.
I usually like to check out a site prior to Q’ing, but I didn’t have the opportunity to make it out prior to Thursday morning. Maraschino recommended using Google Maps, and I did that instead.
**Nightshift showed up, which is very cool.
Active Warm-up
Ridin’ the Dirty Bull Suicides–Suicide from Durty Bull Brewery to Hughes Plumbing (Broadway to Right on Rigsbee) Rigsbee Avenue to Stop Sign; Then to the Dankery, which is the name shown on Google Maps (but it’s the Pickleback Bar)
Audible–We paid homage to Durham’s hipsters by doing 15 erkins with feet raised on the Pickleback Bar, using barstools for overhead press and curls
This entire area looks like it has great places to hang out.
We moseyed to The Pit and did about 3 to 4 rounds of global warmings. A bus shot around the corner once, so we moved under the awning of The Pit that included a lot picnic tables, etc. First round 10 burpees, second round dips (Crab Cake called x 25), 25 rows (Soybean called)
We moseyed to Kotuku Surf Club for two rounds of 6 surfing burpees, hop across the street to the sidewalk where we performed six burpees with a wall jump or step up.
I allowed Nightshift to burpee penalize the group, because asked the purpose of F3, and most of us answered differently. Maraschino said the purpose was to ensure election integrity, Soybean claimed its mission is to instruct seniors in classical metaphysics, and I believe Treehorn is forming a vigilante group (DM him for more information).
We then moseyed to the old Durham Bull baseball park. I had planned something longer here, but I had to shorten it for the Waffle portion. We ricky bobbeyed Bernie-style with each last PAX in group performing 5 burpees before sprinting to the front.
Mary and Waffles–We split into teams and one person from each group ran to Dame’s for waffles, while we did Mary–I believe dancing chilcuts, parker peter’s, freddie mercuries, etc., were called.
Circle of Superheroes at Central Park–Peter Parker Merkin (Soybean); weird superman thing (Maraschino, of course); 35 IC Mountain Climbers; and Rocky Abs (Nightshift)
We moseyed back and someone asked Cool J what he was going to do, but didn’t get to do it because of time limitations, so we stopped and did another Mary exercise.
Moseyed back to AO where we finished with 15 Kate’s.

COT: We discussed April Fool’s Day, but then we talked about how someone’s health can change rapidly, so we need to appreciate family, friends, and each other. My wife just went through about four weeks of not knowing the status of a tumor that her primary care doctor found recently. Thankfully, it seems to be benign. Aye!
