It was another mildish North Carolina winter day. Perfect workout weather. YHC always loves the Jag. Tclaps to Rebar for starting the site and keeping the faith. Today, we’d try to leverage the underutilized baseball field attached to The Jag. YHC was reminded about a Rabbit workout where Grunge had us run the bases for 45 minutes, which left pains in places that usually don’t have pains. We wouldn’t re-create the horror of that Grunge workout, but would steal a piece of it and combine with the Usain Bolt to create the Rickey Henderson. (Sorry, if this exercise has already been used and named. YHC’s research office was still on shutdown.)
Nightshift had put out a call for EC the night before. Sadly, the call went unanswered, but still he was first on site doing laps of the parking lot. We’ll all do better Nightshift. Next time.
In the end, 4 PAX showed put in the splendid gloom. These are the events that transpired as best as YHC can recall.

The Thang
Mosey to the baseball field. Wrong turn and missed the trail, which meant we ended up in the ditch on the side of the road. Watch for cars. Sorry.
Setup flashlights on each base, which just looks cool, and explain workout.
Round 1: Burpee home runs (Do these have a better name?)
- Bear crawl the base path. When arriving at a base do an exercise.
- 1st: Merkins x 10
- 2nd: Squats x 10
- 3rd: Tuck Jumps x 10
- Home: Burpees x 10
Round 2: Rickey Henderson (The Double)
- One PAX will sprint the base path and call an exercise for others to perform. Each PAX takes a turn.
- This round would be around the bases two times.
- Exercises were burpees, peter parker merkins, lunges, and something else.
Round 3: Rickey Henderson (Reverse Double)
- Run the other way to even things out. Still times two for each PAX.
- More exercises that I can’t recall. There were 360 burpees and maybe SSH. We mostly stayed away from being on our 6 due to soggy field conditions.
Round 4: Rickey Henderson (The Triple)
- Each PAX goes three times around. More exercises.
Round 5: Burpee home run
- This time, lunge walk the base paths.
- 1st: Merkins x 10
- 2nd: Squats x 10
- 3rd: Tuck Jumps x 10
- Home: Burpees x 10
Collect flashlights and head to the playground.
Round 6: Swirkens
- A JAG staple. Feet in swing. Do a merkin followed by a crunch.
