24 PAX came out on this warm, but dark, summer morning to participate in some team relay competitions.
Warmup consisted of the usual lap around the field followed by SSH, Windmills, Squat Jacks, Merkins, Swimmers, Ultra Mountain Climbers, Dry Docks
The Thang:
We began with a race around the field followed by planking out in the order that PAX finished. This allowed us to count off into six roughly evenly matched teams of four. The assignment was to be the first team to collectively complete 150 pull-ups and collect as many balls as possible. Team members rotated through running to the playground to perform max pull-ups while another team member waited while doing kettle-bell swings and the other two teammates performed a human wheelbarrow to pick up balls located about 20 yards from the end of the field where teams were assembled. The first team to complete 150 pull-ups and the team that obtained the most balls during that time frame enjoyed a reduced number of penalty burpees as part of their victory celebration.
The next activity was an old-fashioned relay race with two members of each team standing on opposite sides of the field. While teammates were waiting to run, they performed wide-grip merkins on one side of the field and diamond merkins on the other side. The first team to have everyone run the length of the field twice in succession again avoided some penalty burpees.
We finished with some flutter kicks, V-ups, and ring of fire, followed by announcements and prayer.
It was a pleasure to lead this fine group of men in a morning of fun. Tclaps to team 2 for their strong performance! Six nutheads showed up at 5:00 to pad the stats on their spreadsheets, notching significant contributions to four tabs in half an hour (one workout, two miles running, 100 pull ups, and 100 kettle-bell swings).
