Really Big Four Corners

November 27, 2018

WHEN: 11/27/2018
QIC: Malware
PAX: OPEC, Bellhop, WeedNFeed, Boucher, MLP, Scapula, Awesome Baby, Brick, Malware, Quarter Pipe (F3 New Orleans)

Quarter Pipe (F3 New Orleans) is visiting us this week! Good to see you out there this morning.

YHC had a number of ideas for this Q. First, we were going to head down to the baseball field for some AMRAP stations. Then the success of this new AO got YHC thinking about failure as a workout theme. What if we just did every exercise until every PAX reached the point of complete failure. That was the plan until a couple of days ago. But Parkwood is a great neighborhood, full of great guys who have no idea how much better their lives would be if they started showing up to the local elementary school Tuesdays at 05:30. So the plan became to announce the new AO to anyone who might be out and about in the predawn hours by running through the streets carrying a shovel flag.

Arriving at 05:29:50 left no time for chatting, so “Good morning. I’m Malware. Next exercise is SSH”

Warm up:

  • SSH
  • Imperial Walkers
  • Arm Circles
  • Slow Merkins

In retrospect, not much of a warm up, but we had a lot of ground to cover in 45 minutes.

ME:
Grab the flag, run to the end of the lake.
50 squats
40 Overhead claps
30 LBCs
20 Peach pickers
10 Drydocks

Grab the flag, run to the other end of the lake.
50 squats
40 Overhead claps
30 LBCs
20 Peach pickers
10 Drydocks

Grab the flag, run to the intersection of Sedwick and Revere (with a brief sprint along the way).
50 squats
40 Overhead claps
30 LBCs
20 Peach pickers
10 Drydocks

Grab the flag, run back to AO.

Great work by all!

Just enough time to pass around a roughly 50 pound log.
PAX form a line. PAX at the back runs the log to the front and passes the log to the person behind him. Pass the log backwards down the line until it reaches the back. Last man runs the log back up to the front. We got through a couple rounds of this before time ran short.

1 minute of Mary:
Flutter kicks

COT:
There are several great running and rucking AOs that are open to everyone. For my first several months, I was intimidated by the thought of showing up to a running AO and being left behind. Running has never been my thing. And rucking seemed like something that required improvising equipment or investing a good amount of cash, so I didn’t try it for a while. But these AOs are just as accessible as the boot camps. The guys at the running AOs are great about keeping everyone together and making sure everyone gets a good workout. If you can jog 2 miles you can do well at any of the running AOs. If you can’t jog 2 miles, then show up anyway. They will get you there quick. It is amazing how quickly guys go from running 2-3 miles to running 7-8 miles or more. The same is true of rucking. Just let people know on Slack that you are coming without a ruck and someone will have an extra ruck waiting for you. Trust me, if you show up at a rucking AO, you will be given something to carry. Check out these weekly official and unofficial events if you have not already:
