Rain, Rabbit, Rain!

April 24, 2018

WHEN: 04/24/2018
QIC: Sir Mix-a-Lot
PAX: Grunge, Strange Brew, YHC

The rain was pouring down as I awoke, but there was no way I was going to miss The Rabbit. Wet I can handle. Cold I can handle. Cold and wet begins to be uncomfortable. Fortunately, the temp was a reasonable 55 degrees.

No sign of any PAX in the BC clubhouse parking lot until about 5:29 when Grunge and Strange Brew showed. We moseyed to a covered spot for a little warmup and dynamic stretching: toy soldiers, imperial walkers, quad stretches, high knees, 10 burpees oyo, 2 min stretch-whatever-you-need-to-stretch.

The Thang: Keep it simple. Just go out and run. We wound around the streets of BC for about 5 miles before heading back to the clubhouse for a quick Mary consisting of 35 flutter kicks and 20 WW2s.

COT

It’s been about 15 months now since my first post with F3.  For someone who struggled to get to 10 pushups early on, the 1st F was a welcome benefit and my main focus. Lately, however, the 2nd and 3rd Fs have sneaked up on me. This month alone The Bull hit on all F cylinders and set itself up as a hard act to follow. Somehow the Tar Heel Ten Miler/Speed for Need managed to do just that.  It was in this context that the following quotation struck a chord.

“Things of the spirit are what count: brotherhood – in a day when there is too much hatred at home and abroad; cheerfulness – in a day when the pessimists have the floor and cynics are popular; service – in a day when millions are interested in getting or grasping, rather than giving.”

― E. Urner Goodman
