Objective: Failure

June 15, 2020

WHEN: 06/15/2020
QIC: Prancing Horse
PAX: FNG “Mint Julep”, Botched, Ocho, Amphibious, Yurt, Bushwood, Weezer, Beano, Barksdale, Floss

I was taught in Strength & Conditioning class in high school that the objective of exercise was complete muscle failure.  Whether it was bench, squat, deadlift, pull-ups, etc, you push until you can’t get the weight up by yourself again, the spotter has to help on that last rep.

Eleven PAX, including FNG “Mint Julep”, took a variety of exercises to complete muscle failure.

Warm-Up

25 SSH, 10 Imperial Walker, 10 Good Morning, 10 Arm Circles/10 Reverse

Straight into “Bring Sally Up, Bring Sally Down”, which is always longer than I remember…

The Thang

Mosey the long way to the playground/basketball courts.  50 air squats, immediately followed by Peoples Chair to failure.  YHC dropped early, Botched looked on magnanimously as the other PAX failed, one by one.

50 flutter kicks, immediately followed by 6 inch hold, or “the magic spot” that hurts so good, to failure.

50 pull-ups, or failure, whichever comes first.  Failure came first for all, though Weezer knocked out 30, very impressive.

50 hand-release merkins, failure came first for most.

Rinse & Repeat, lots of reps, lots of failure, goal achieved.  Mosey the long way back to start.

COT

One more round of 50 flutter kicks and magic spot hold to failure.

YHC led the PAX in prayer with a message of thanks for Creation.  For the vast expanse of the universe and the cosmos, down to the miracle of human life, for every breath, every heartbeat, every neuron firing off electrical pulses.  Aye!
