New Faces and PT

August 11, 2018

WHEN: 08/11/2018
QIC: Griswold
PAX: Mothman, Wreckless, Sneaky Shoes, Meltdown (FNG), Stork (FNG), Slayer, Enigma, Cesar (FNG), Code Pink (FNG), Paperboy, Germ, Loonie, Griswold

YHC rolled up to the AO for my first Q with Sneaky Shoes in the shotgun seat expecting a max of 7 or 8 PAX, but the initial outlook was more than that. IT was new Basecamp faces that put us up to our lucky number, 13! Sneaky Shoes and YHC, as well as Loonie were heading out for our first Basecamp, plus 4 FNGs, so more than half of the PAX were new basecamp faces.

The Thang:

It is a wondrous sight to behold in the gloom as PAX unload rucks and coupons in the moments before a workout. On this fine morning the coupons were plentiful thanks to a loan from Rambler and Loonie and Paperboy bringing equally awful coupons.

The coupons included:

3 Cinder Blocks

2 Jerry Cans (40L and 20L?)

5 Sandbags (2-80#s, 2-60#s, 1-40#)

The PAX grabbed the coupons and headed from the AO to the base of the long paved hill at the Wall (.56 miles). All coupons were laid down and YHC ran down the workout. Along the hill were orange cones, a triple set of cones sat at approximately the midway point of the hill. 4 PAX went to the top of the hill to retrieve the log.

The 4 PAX carrying the team log would carry the log to the halfway point, double time to the bottom of the hill and back to the log, then carry it the rest of the way.

The rest of the PAX would pick a coupon and carry it to the first cone. They would then drop the coupon and double time to the bottom of the hill and back to the coupon, pick it up and head to next cone. Then repeat dropping the coupon at each cone and heading to the bottom and back double time.

Once the 4 PAX carrying the log were done they would rotate in to the coupon carry and 4 more PAX would rotate to the log.

After we all had a turn at the awfulness and all coupons had returned to the bottom of the hill, everyone did 25 recovery merkins.

Then everything was carried the .56 miles back to the AO and stored. 70 minutes remained to get some miles in. Mothman had a deadline to head back, so we all took some trails and walked him home like gentleman. After that Germ was kind enough to lend his navigational expertise on some trails and roads to get us both quality miles and back to the AO on time.

Ruck Miles:

.56mi to the hill

1.13mi during ruck workout

.56mi back from the hill

3.5mi after dropping of the coupons

Total miles moved: 5.75mi

Total Post Workout Ruck miles: 4.06mi

Announcements:

Thanks to the guys from the Sand Hill Ruck Club from Sanford for coming out, it was awesome to get miles and fellowship with you gentleman this morning, looking forward to having you guys come out again and also seeing some of you at the Raleigh Tough.

BoM:

Not much of a BoM message today as the unexpected naming took longer than planned. Bottom line is it is great to get myself out to Basecamp, and even better to Q it. Glad to see some F3 guys (like myself) making it to the AO for the first time, and also great to have some ruckers that weren’t F3 come join us as well. This is a great AO for a solid workout, but also one of the best 2nd F opportunities we have built in to our region.
