Today the plan was to relive some of the glory days of Florida football. 1999-2003 I had the privilege of attending each of the worlds largest outdoor cocktail party (aka Florida vs Georgia in Jacksonville) Each game was fantastic for one simple fact. The gators won!

Warmup:

THAT-THANG:

• Mosey to the stairs, today’s routine would consist of a Zook Ladder
• 4 exercises — SSH, Merkins, Squats, LBCs In lieu of ten counts after the stairs I told my version of the game from each year I was in college
• 20 of each IC followed by 2 flights of stairs
• 1999; Florida wins 30-14. Doug Johnson out duels Quincy Carter. Rain was intense that day. Robert Gillespie had a good game (he is now UNC RB coach and lives in neighborhood)
• 30 of each single count followed by 3 flights of stairs
• 2000; Florida wins 34-23. Jesse Palmer and Rex Grossman out duel Quincy Carter. Lito Sheppard, a DB for Florida had one of the best INT returns I’ve seen. Robert Gillespie absolutely killed it this game (like 170 total yards)
• 40 of each single count followed by 4 flights of stairs
• 2001; Florida wins 24-10. Rex Grossman throws for over 400 yards and beats David Greene. This is one game I don’t recall much football action as the game started at 3:30. I was kicked out at 3:45. I spent about an hour in Alltel stadium jail before being released to a friend. I felt so bad i bought 2 tickets to the game from some random guy (homeless man somehow had some). We got back in the stadium and the tickets took us to the Jacksonville city commissioners skybox. It was like that scene from Animal House when they walk into the bar. We lasted about 15 minutes there before being told to leave and I ended up watching the game on the jumbo tron outside. But I still have both ticket stubs.

Mary:

• 2002; Florida wins 20-13. Grossman vs Greene again. UGA was undefetaed and thoguht this was their year. It was the Zookers first year as coach and he had other plans. UF ran the WR bubble screen like 80 times this game and UGA never adjusted their defense. we could not believe it. That night we stayed in one of the worst hotels in jacksonville. The Red Carpet Inn. People partied all night and all I can remember is this one Gators fan yelling all night “Its a Long Drive Back to Suckville”

So the reason all these games were such great memories for me is because they all had one thing in common, I actually got to go in person to them. Too many times in life we make excuses not to do something. Not enough money, not enough time. all understandable but they just hinder us too much. Whatever you guys have going on with the holidays coming up, or for spring break, whatever. Don’t let excuses get in the way of making a memory. Until next time. Aye!
