I’ve casually thrown around the term “like a Phoenix rising from the ashes” about myself more times than I can count because I think that’s a hilarious phrase. Coupled with mediocre achievements such as “Colin was out of breath around the 5th step on a 10 step staircase, buuuuuut like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, he continued!” It is the perfect false bravado that serves pretty much any situation. You get it. It’s a great phrase, feel free to borrow so long as I’m cited. Anyways, I hurt my leg recently and wasn’t able to participate in the Rabbit. After a lengthy rehabilitation which saw me eating an entire box of double stuff Oreo’s, shirtless in an old bathrobe, wistfully surveying passing runners from my porch as a small tear would drop from the corner of my eye. Yesterday, while spending almost 25 real minutes of my life on crafting the perfect Tuna Melt sandwich (this isn’t a joke, it was dynamite), i turned to Slack to see the Rabbit needed a leader. Optimism soon popped into my head, could it be done? After all this time? Is now when I am needed most?
Well, to the 3 people reading this, to answer that question, it was time. I could use my favorite phrase again.
“This morning at the Rabbit, LIKE A PHOENIX RISING FROM THE ASHES, I……was there”

We headed out towards Encore stopping at the Hills near the Wall AO to do some hill sprints. These were not well received. We lapped Encore then headed into the brand new construction next to the power lines (I have lived here for 3 years and I honestly know 1 road, Briar Chapel Parkway, for the rest of this, please just imagine English is my second language and I am directing you to a great place to eat I know about). We then took whatever Road that is and headed back to the AO. We mixed up the run by adding several sprints throughout to really burn the legs. It was definitely a challenging run and we made it to just over 5 miles by the time we got back to the AO.

Quick talk at the end. Just happy to be back out and thankful for Grunge, HT and Paperboy for the willingness to head out with me. Great start to the day.
Now throw in a hair metal band hammering a guitar and if that image doesnt cash you a happy check for the day then I can’t help you.
Anyways, enough about me, The Rabbit was a great time this morning, with fantastic company in Paperboy, Horny Toad and Grunge. Fearing the dark and the trails, I wanted us to stick to the road. Also, because I’ve been crushing Oreos and not running I kind of wanted to burn some of that off this morning.
