Today is my last day being 46 years old. I am still surprised by how much I learn on any given day, especially considering I knew everything by my 10th birthday! This morning taught me a couple valuable lessons I’d like to share.

Lesson Learned

  1. It’s not all about me(you)–even on my(your) birthday. Some people will come to your party just for the cake. Yesterday, I told my daughter how “the guys” were going to have coffee and donuts in honor of my birthday. Turns out the site AO who provide said accoutrements is in a contest with another PAX. The loser has to take a polar bear plunge in Jordan. I know 30 PAX didn’t show up to just because tomorrow’s my bday. Regardless of the motivation, I’m just happy they were there.
  2. Share the plan with some other HIMs when 20 pax HC the night before–especially considering social distancing. I had a plan that could accommodate breaking into 2 or 3 groups, so I thought I’d be okay when 30 showed. Wrong! There was confusion. I should have shared the plan with 2 others to lead their respective groups or at least put our a pre-blast in hopes of reducing the confusion that occurs when attempting to lead 30 men.
  3. Out and back runs are great when with pax who run at different paces. Most groups exceeding 3-4 pax will have varying paces, but it gets pretty drastic as the head count increases. When you plan an out and back run, the quarter horses will run the specified distance. The clydesdales can turn back when the quarter horses reach them on the return trip. It helps keep the groups together when a running group acts as the timer.

Warm Up
SSH, alternating shoulder touch Merkins, sumo squat hillbilly, 10 burpees to welcome late arrival Food Lion, Bear crawled to the first traffic circle and mosey’d to the second.

The 46
Split into 3 groups and claimed a socially distant spot to work. One group ran down and back up the hill as the timer while another did an AMRAP of 4 reps of one exercise and 6 of another. Third group call and counted a core exercises for the entire round. We rotated so each group partook of each exercise every round.
1. Run to the first curb break in the right. Should touch Merkins/shoulder press.
2. Run to the second curb break. Step back lunges w/kick and jump squats.
3. Run to BPW. Donkey kicks and dry docks.
4. Run all the way down. 4x4s and HR burpees.

Mary
Uh… I don’t know. Food Lion lead it while I was bringing up the six. We were out of time when the 6 arrived.
