Intro:
YHC has been talking up The Jag quite a bit recently. The workouts at NCE have been consistently brutal over the past few weeks and I’ve been spreading the word whenever possible to other PAX to come on down and get a taste of what Homegrown Berry and his Merry Band of Q’s are cooking on the worst pavement in all of churham. So when Spit Bucket had to make a last minute cancellation and it was my own big mouth that intimidated Maraschino into not wanting to Q with such a reputation at the Jag to uphold – I thought it only right that I step up and take it for today. Life was busy and I didn’t have a whole lot of time to plan so I looked back through some recent BBs and found an escalator that Nightshift had run recently at Vortex that seemed would fit the bill nicely. I took some quick notes on an Orange sticky (which I had to ensure didn’t go into the laundry AGAIN or Mrs. Splashback might have had me packing my bags…) set my alarm in time for EC and that was that.
EC:
The Jag’s Manmaker EC is something that I love to hate. But I’ve been doing it for a few weeks now and I can tell I’m better at it than I was when I started – and that’s a big part of what F3 is for me. So I’ll keep coming back for more as long as life permits it. Great Mumblechatter this morning with Homegrown and Catskill, starting off with a discussion of how Major League holds up after all these years. That transitioned into Blockbuster killing the local low rent movie rental places that had the shady “back room” sections, and onto other classics from the VHS era including Last of the Mohicans – we all need to watch that one again – total classic. The Bowen boys showed up about halfway through EC leading me to believe (hope) we were almost done (we weren’t), but after 30 long minutes with good company 8 PAX were ready for the ME.
Warmup:
20 SSH IC
Little bit of Bear Crawl
Little bit of Crawl Bear
10 Slow Squats IC
10 Chinooks IC
Something else?
The Thang:
Escalator Time.
Each Pax is given an exercise to lead.
YHC – 5 burpees
Nighthawk – 10 Dry Docks
Chum – 15 Monkey Humpers
Catskill – 20 Shoulder Press
Homegrown Berry – 25 jump Squats
Zook – 30 LBCs
Nitro – 40 Flutters
Quicken – 50 of whatever he wants
Plan was to run a half loop and do the 5 Burpees. Increase that to the full loop, 5 Burpees plus 10 Dry Docks. Increase again to a lop and a half and 3 exercises etc. This was going great (i.e. lots of complaining about not having signed up for the Splashback Tuesday Marathon, Just because Nightshift writes about it doesn’t mean we have to do it etc.) – but there’s been a lot of talk at my job recently about inclusivity so I decided to try some and listened to the PAX (and my hypoxic racing heart) and dropped some of the running on the last few rounds. We completed everything with some time to spare – Quicken added in a 50 count of arm circles/clapping combo that sucked – Nice job Quicken.
Mary:
We did a 5 Merkin ring of Fire. There were bouncing and clapping Merkins and more complaining. I led some boxcutters – 25 NOT 50. Although I do like 50 boxcutters sometimes. Maybe there was something else – but that’s all I remember.
Announcements:
-Check out Mothman’s virtual wine tasting event – details on several slack channels.
-Zook is gearing up for the Boston Marathon. That is bad ass – good luck Zook.
COT:
Nothing profound today – just go out and be better. Give everything you do all you’ve got – until next time – AYE!
