Jackie, Wilt and Walter: Guides to Growth and Greatness

February 15, 2018

QIC: Soybean
PAX: Crab Cake, Crean, Funny Money, Green Egg, Knope, Lowtide, Pebbles, Roach, Soda Popinski, Soybean

As YHC was pondering a theme for my second Q at The Bullpen in downtown Durham, two ideas converged:

  1. February being Black History Month
  2. Durham’s rich legacy related to the civil rights movement as reflected in our city’s urban art

With those two notions in mind, YHC mashed up the following Q to make 10 PAX stronger and a bit more woke.

Black History belongs to all of us as Americans. Every one of us can appreciate the success and progress of our fellow citizens – and athletics is just one area where we are can bond around brilliant feats of human achievement.

Yet there’s unfinished work to make our nation a more perfect union – and always will be. YHC believes that education is the great equalizer. The more we know, the more we can grow in empathy and understanding, then take steps to help one another get to the finish line together. Good news: there are some great Black History Month events in Durham yet in February! Check ’em out.

Last quick preaching moment: F3 Churham could be more diverse as well, reflecting the rich tapestry of the Triangle. I’ve talked about it here and there with some of you, so I know I’m not alone in this observation. 🙂  What if we each intentionally looked to invite someone that comes from a completely different race or or nationality than ourselves? Imagine what we could learn and the relationships we could build in the foxhole of Fitness, Fellowship and Faith.

Until next time, PAX. Thank you.
