Boot camps will pain you. Storms cause damp. Rucks will strain you. And trail runs cause cramp. E.C.s are awful. Rest days are few. Fart sacking is unlawful. Might as well Q. (h/t Dorothy Parker, Resume)

Brother Fieri posted a call out for a Q swap for this morning’s Thicket ticket on Slack as he was out helping with post Florence relief efforts down by the coast. A few months ago, I had the Q @ the Jag and threw my back out the day prior. Fieri did me a solid and kindly stepped up to take the Q back then. I owed him one and was more than happy to return the favor.

5 Strong for The Jungle EC. Thanks to Rambler for kicking off our new Ruck PT format with a grueling 3 round butt kicker that made me glad I wasn’t Q’ing the ME.

Except I was. Oh dang.

MAIN EVENT

Mosey to the Woods playground. Introduced our workout for this morning. Gonna hit a series of Jack Webb based exercise sets, and pyramid them. Each set will include a couplet of exercises and we will perform them in a 1:4 ratio per set, going up to 5:20, then back down to 1:4. In total, we will be performing 25 reps of exercise 1 and 100 reps of exercise 2 for each set.

SET ONE:

  • Pull Ups/Merkins. Both SC, OYO. (1:4 up to 5:20 back down to 1:4)

SET TWO:

Moved it to the small parking lot in front of playground.

  • 8 Count Body Builders/Monkey Humpers. Both SC, Performed as a group. (1:4 – 5:20 – 1:4)

SET THREE:

Moved it back to StartEx.

  • Tuck Jump Burpees/Air Squats. Both SC, Performed as a group. (1:4 – 5:20 – 1:4)
  • Burpees, x10 OYO to help jog the memory as to who Jack Webb was. Did not work. Apologies.

SET FOUR:

  • Run Length of Main Parking Lot/Mountain Climbers. Run SC, MCs IC. OYO. Due to time constraints we didn’t get through the entire pyramid. Most got to at least the top, so 5 lengths + 20 CC MCs. A few were able to get back down to 4 lengths + 16 MCs. Nice.

Mary

A quick word about goal setting. Can’t get to a destination if you don’t have one. Can’t hit a target if one does not exist. If you don’t already make it a habit to set goals, start. Set goals for yourself. Don’t just entertain them in your head in passing. Give them the respect they deserve. Write them down. Don’t type them in your computer or tablet. Grab a pen and paper and go through the process of writing them down. Meditate on them. Envision yourself successfully accomplishing your goals.

I am seeing many brothers going after some big goals right now. Stepping up their posting. Trying something new. Hitting the ECs. Getting out to different AOs in the region. Stepping up to lead. Signing up for events and challenges, GoRuck, obstacle course races, marathons, etc. Pushing themselves. Getting involved in charity events and work. Taking the time on their own dime to help out those in need, both locally and down range. This is extraordinary and awesome. It amazes and inspires TF out of me.

Daily red pill time. If you are a member of this group, this organization, then you have an obligation, an affirmative duty to help your brothers meet their goals. Whatever they may be. Step outside yourself and your own ego and take the time to motivate, encourage, and support your brothers. They in turn should do that for you. Together, we must help each other to be stronger, go farther, be better, succeed. It costs you absolutely nothing to acknowledge and encourage a brother, give them a nod, a pat on the back, a motivational word. Even better, get out there and step along side with them. Don’t be that guy that stands in the way, that down plays or down grades, or brings a dark cloud. If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. Give strength and resolve, receive it in turn. If you find that you cannot do that, then do us all a favor, and shut your mouth and get the f*ck out of the way. Be well, my brothers. Until next time, aye!
