It’s Still Thanksgiving Season, Right?

December 5, 2019

WHEN: 12/05/2019
QIC: Brotox
PAX: Spooky, Quicken, Green Acres, Catskill, Bogey, Nightshift

Last week I spent a reasonable amount of time planning a Thanksgiving-themed workout but I didn’t end up using it. I didn’t want all that effort to be wasted so I decided to not let the fact that the calendar had turned to December keep me from subjecting this morning’s PAX to a now outdated Thanksgiving-themed workout.  The first letter of each exercise for the workout this morning spelled out HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Warm Up

  • High Knees x20 IC
  • Arm Circles x10 IC, F&R
  • Peter Parkers x10 IC
  • Parker Peters x10 IC
  • Yurpees x5 OYO (a burpee with a double tuck jump at the end, named for some Russian olympic coach even though he undoubtedly had nothing to do with the invention of the yurpee. Why do so many calisthenic exercises seem to originate from the Eastern Bloc (Romanian this, Bulgarian that, etc.)?

The Thang

Between each of the following exercises we moved via a different mode of travel (walking lunge, crab walk, bear crawl), completing one full loop around the parking lot in the process.

  • Tony Hawk Burpee x10 OYO (burpee with 360 jump)
  • Homer to Marge 10 count, x5
  • ABCs on six spelled out with feet
  • Nolan Ryan x10 IC each side
  • Kraken Burpee x10 OYO (burpee with hand release merkin)
  • Sweat Angels x20 IC

  • Box Cutters x25 IC called by Spooky
  • Flutter Kicks x25 IC called by Quicken (not Nacho, despite what I called him in my exhausted state)

COT/BOM

As we close out the Thanksgiving season and move to the Christmas season I just want to say one more time how thankful I am for all the blessings we have been given, including our good health and our families which allow us to be out here in the gloom. Until next time, Aye!
