Infinity War at HoP

As of today, the Avengers – Infinity War has passed $800 million dollars at the global box office, with new records being set once again by Disney in their most recent offering from the Marvel Comic Universe (MCU).  It’s the longest MCU movie to-date, and it includes 76 different Marvel characters throughout.  My two sons and I randomly attended opening night last weekend during a brief vacation to the beach, and it was a blast.  There was big drama, big personalities, big battles, big explosions, and a lot of metal being thrown around – just like your typical visit to House of Pain each Wednesday.  This morning, 21 PAX honored some of the heroes featured in the movie by completing an Infinity War Workout.

WARM UP –  1 Fellowship Lap, SSH, 5 Tuck Jumps (TJs), Good Mornings, 5 Burpees, Prisoner Squats, 5 TJs, Merkins, 5 Burpees, Arm Circles

THE THANG

  • PAX partnered up

– “Iron Man and Spider Man”

  • With no “Iron”, we used the steel, railroad plates instead. Each pair grabbed a piece of steel to transfer between partners
  • Round 1
    • Partner 1 – bicep curls; Partner 2 – Peter Parkers (flapjack)
    • Partner 1 – front lateral raise; Partner 2 – Parker Peters (flapjack)
    • Partner 1 – bent-over rows; Partner 2 – Peter Parker Peters (flapjack)
  • Round 2
    • Partner 1 – Reverse (negative) bicep curls; Partner 2 – Peter Parkers (flapjack)
    • Partner 1 – Steel Bar Raise (lower right to upper left); Partner 2 – Parker Peters (flapjack)
    • Partner 1 – Steel Bar Raise (lower right to upper left); Partner 2 – Peter Parker Peters (flapjack)

-“Black Panther”

  • PAX ran lap around church at 70% pace
  • Round 1
    • Partner 1 – partner carry to end of parking lot by road; Partner 2 – partner carry back to starting point (repeated twice)
    • Done in honor of teamwork demonstrated by Avengers
  • Round 2
    • PAX lined up along base of parking lot
    • Panther Crawl to first island; run back
    • Panther Pounce to second island; run back
    • Panther Sprint to third island; run back

-“Smash Brothers – Thor and the Hulk”

  • Each pair grabbed one coupon closest to them to share, and subsequently all pair constructed a metal ring of fire around the sledge hammer tire set and tractor tire for flipping
  • Of course, the hammer for Thor and the tractor tire flips for the Hulk
  • PAX pairs took turns rotating around the tire/sledge setup, conducting different exercises called at random by Beano, until it was their turn sledging and flipping in the middle
  • Exercises while rotating around the circle included the following:
    • Curls, kettlebell swings, merkins, prisoner squats, clean presses, mountain climbers. WWIIs, bent-over rows, weighted squats, push presses, etc.

Hopefully, not too many spoilers were shared (Sorry!) and all parts of the body were blasted by the end.

  1. Soft launch of the new Moose running AO is tomorrow (5/3/18) at Bean Traders in Durham on Hwy 54 at 5:30 AM.  All paces are welcome!
    • NOTE:  This AO will rotate weekly between Beans Traders in Durham and Fresh Market in Chapel Hill
  2. The Fayetteville Spartan is almost here (5/12/18)!  Let’s continue to think of and support the PAX who will compete in their training over the next week.
