YHC woke up this morning at 0439 wondering if anyone was insane enough to workout. You know, besides me.

YHC arrived at the AO at 0520. Ghost town. I took this time to assess the site to see what wasn’t covered in ice to safely workout in. The gravel access road was frozen solid and the bus site was not much better. At 0528 I thought all hope was lost and I’d be forced to do this planned torture myself. But then out of the gloom came three clown cars who were ready for a beat down. And there so conveniently were 12 parking spots in a row at the front of the school that were decent, and YHC needed 12 different spots for the planned workout. Coincidence?

Main Event:

What better way to get in the the Christmas spirit and manipulate a classic Christmas song (12 Days of Christmas) to bring upon misery for the next 45 minutes?

Each “Day” in this case represented a workout that was to be completed. And as we went to each new day, we went in descending order until we reached the last day.

  • 1st Day, Al Gore pose (this was to be the pose held after each set of days was completed
  • 2nd Day, Dive Bombers x 5 (55x total)
  • 3rd Day, Shoulder Taps x 20 (200x total)
  • 4th Day, Lunge Jumps x 20 (10 per leg) (180x total, it definitely felt like more)
  • 5th Day, Burpees! x 5 (40x total)
  • 6th Day, Bobby Hurleys x 10 (70x total)
  • 7th Day, Overhead Claps x 20 (120x total)
  • 8th Day, Peter Parkers x 15 (75x total)
  • 9th Day,  Body-Weight Squats x 20 (80x total)
  • 10th Day, Hand-Release Merkins x 10 (30x total)
  • 11th Day, Oooooh, Mystery exercise. As a group we decided we couldn’t leave our cores out of the workout (American Hammers x 25) (50x total)
  • 12th Day, Smurf Jacks x 10, followed by 10x Red Bull Smurf Jacks, and end with 10x more regular Smurf Jacks. (30x total)

But, wait we had several different modes of travel because YHC couldn’t make it too easy, right? After each day was completed, PAX got to pick between several options from Bear Crawl, Lunge Walk, (Mc)Duck Walk, Crab Walk, Bunny Hop, and Sprinting. We finished all 12 days with going over just a minute so Mary was forgone.
