Medal of Honor Tribute #2: John Basilone

Summary of action: Did an amphibious landing in Guadalcanal meeting no resistance.  The Japanese sank all the American ships leaving John and his marines alone and unafraid.  3000 Japanese attacked in wave after wave non-stop for 2 days. John ran back and forth emplacing his machine gun and stopping the Japanese attack from breaking through the line.  Out of convenience he killed 38 japanese alone with a pistol and machete as he ran back and forth. He lost his boot and protective glove in the battle so he rested the red hot barrel on his forearm, decided boots were overrated, and kept killing Japanese until they ran out of bodies.  He came back to the states to encourage and motivate but as soon as he got approval he requested to rejoin his unit before the landing at Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Navy Cross for destroying a decisive enemy machine gun position. He died on the beach after being hit from an artillery round.

2 round of soccer field sprints stopping to do burpees at each goal line.

Medal of Honor Tribute #3: Dan Daly

Summary of action:  This is the most decorated Marine in US history.  Awarded 2 medal of honors and a Navy Cross. Please look this guy up and read what he did, you will be astounded.  He was an unreal dude. During WWI the Germans called Dan’s Marines Teufel Hunden or “Devil Dogs” due their frightfulness and violence of action.    Marines still to this day call each other devil dogs as a term of endearment. “
