Holiday Week Beckons

Eight PAX gathered outside Kenan Stadium Monday with YHC making a return to posting after a month on the sidelines from an Achilles tendon injury. I can’t run on flat ground but can pound stairs (the physiological reasons for that beyond my limited abilities of comprehension). So with Kenan Stadium having stairs out the wazoo, the options for a non-running session are plentiful … and what better way to kick off a holiday week than a rousing workout on a crisp morning.

The Thang:

Warmup SSH x 25, Windmill x 10, Squat x 10, Willie Mays Hays x 10, Arm Circles forward/backward 10 x, CDD x 10, Merkins x 10.

Enter Kenan and jog to benches at northeast corner for three sets of Dips, Single-Leg Squats L&R, Merkins, count 10, 12 and then 15. Then knock out 60 seconds of People’s Chair before moseying to playing field.

We then ran the stairs for 18 minutes, doing 10 CDD at the top and 30 seconds bows-to-toes planks on the field.

Then two sets of Bear Crawls across the width of the field and lunge walk back.

Finally, Eight Minutes of Mary with each PAX leading a core exercise, including Flutters, Heels to Heaven, WWII, Russian Hammers, Side Plank Hip Lifts, Ring of Fire Merkins and Peter Parkers.

COT within sight of glow of the Bell Tower, resplendent in its blue light following Tar Heel football win Saturday and field hockey national title Sunday.

And for those of us healthy enough to post (albeit with limitations in some cases), remember this: “Learn to appreciate what you have, before time makes you appreciate what you had.”
