July 30, 2018

WHEN: 07/30/2018

Two years ago, 12 men ventured into new territory to launch The Thicket. Today 23 PAX — who now have nine AOs in that once new territory of Chatham County — celebrated the anniversary in cinematic fashion. It had all the makings of a blockbuster: nostalgia, comedy, action sequences, special effects, a dynamic foe, plot twists, a cameo, and a handsome and talented cast.

THE THANG I
by Yanni

Split into two groups. One group sprints up the hill, the other does an exercise until sprint is complete – merkins, squats, burpees.
Mosey to the picnic benches for dips and derkins
Group one sprints up the hill, group two does PPPs (ping pong table pullups) and box jumps.
Crawl bear first block up the hill (met an enthusiastic potential FNG emerging from his house)
Bear crawl second block up the hill
Traveling burpee third block up the hill
Mosey to the circle …

THE THANG II
by Marky Mark

One group doing people’s chair, the other group does a full lap of crab walk
Mosey to the ramp, where a tunnel of love attempt on the ramp railings had to be altered when the PAX appeared poised to break the railings
Walking lunge to the stairs
Run up and down the stairs with occasional breaks for johnny dramas
Head to the field for a four corners burpee ladder
Mary amid the fire ants (there were casualties): tandem gym class situps, peter parkers, LBCs
Mosey back to the AO with two stops for sprints, and russian hammers upon return to the AO

COT
With timing that could only be scripted and visuals that could only be computer animated, the skies opened up for a fantastic, torrential downpour during name-o-rama and the BOM.

BOM
The growth of the PAX in size, strength and camaraderie has been evident and well documented over these past two years, but what YHC realized as the anniversary approached is how quickly new members of the group have become ingrained in the PAX. YHC asked some PAX when they first posted and each one had been part of F3 for far less time than YHC realized. This speaks to how welcoming this group is, and explains why it’s such a success. Here’s to two years in the Chatham gloom!
