Eight PAX gathered on an unseasonably warm but misty and damp December morning outside Kenan Stadium for a good hard workout focusing on excellent form and combining cardio and resistance work.

The Thang:

Warm-up: SSX x 20, windmills x 10, squats x 10, arm circles front and back x 10, merkins x 10, Carolina dry docks x 10.

Mosey to Hooker field for two rounds of Usain Bolts, first round running half the length of a soccer field and back, second round running three-quarters of the field and back. Among the 16 exercises performed were merkins, burpees, jump squats, jump lunges, mountain climbers, some of them more than once, along with various others that YHC’s addled and aging brain cannot remember.

Then we crossed Raleigh Road and stopped at the brick wall alongside the cemetery for two rounds of 20 count dips.

Then we moseyed along Country Club Road to Forest Theater, where luckily in the pitch black we all made it safely to the “stage” area at the bottom. We circled up and, still keeping an eye on good form (slow and full moves, not quick and jerky), we alternated merkins, diamond merkins, wide-grip merkins and CDD with 30 seconds of bows-to-toes plank holds. It was terrific work—including the sandy mess we all made.

On the way out of the theater, we did two sets of step-ups (L&R, 10 count each leg) on the stone seats.

We entered Hooker Fields again next to the Institute of Government and made our way westward, bear-crawling the width of the first soccer field, lunge-walking the second and then bear-crawling the third.

We wrapped it up back at the AO with Six Minutes of Mary: WWIIs, flutters, LBCs, side planks with dips on each side.
