Flying V Q

February 16, 2018

WHEN: 02/16/2018
QIC: Nickelback & Nubbin (VQ)
PAX: Eddie the Eagle, Moore, Roach, Soda Popinski, Conception, Virgo, Blue Indian, Pusher, Fish & Chips, Toast, Hightower, Buffay, Nubbin, Nickelback (YHC)

It was such beautiful weather today, and one might have thought it was Pusher’s Q who specializes in Winter workouts that are 60+ degrees. Pusher was present to bring the spring weather, but the show belonged to Nubbin and his VQ and YHC who shared Q duties. Hillsborough welcomed 14 Pax today spanning from Southern Village, Durham, and the Northern Province of Churham. One could sense the excitement in the air and as Buffay pulled in at 5:29.58 we knew it was going to be a great morning.

Warm-up

YHC started the party off at Balls de Negras for some stretching:

  • SSHs (20)
  • Arm Circles (10)
  • Moore Arm Circles- we mimicked the stellar arm circle form from Moore with a front lunge position while doing arm circles (10)
  • Overhead Clappers (10)
  • Seal Clappers- Soda Popinski tried to get us off beat but there was not stopping this train (10)

The Thang

We moseyed over to the parking deck entrance, grabbed a few coupons and reconvened on the 2nd story. 3 Pax members completed as many thrusters as they could (targeting 60) while the pax completed an exercise. Once the exercise was done the 3 coupons were passed down to the next 3 Pax members and a new exercise was conducted until all Pax thrusted with style. Here were the exercises in between:

  • Bear crawls up/run down
  • Crab walk up/run down
  • Karaoke up/same Karaoke side down (known as the Fish & Chips Karaoke Special)
  • Reverse Karaoke up/Karaoke down
  • Bunny hops up/ reverse run down

The Pax moseyed down the parking deck, dropped off the coupons by the flag and partnered up by the first Riverwalk bridge. YHC attempted to explain to the Pax that we would be completing a Silent Recon Mission over the bridge. This would be a test of our communication skills. The Pax would line up by the bridge and get to the other side without talking. Only 2 Pax members moving at any given time without talking. Therefore 2 at a time would run down the bridge, squat down and motion to the next pair to run down, passing the original partners by 10 ft or so and then motion the next pair to run down. It was pure chaos but lots of running ensued and we managed to get to the other side of the bridge!

With 22 minutes remaining, YHC handed the baton to the much awaited, VQ from Nubbin.

And with backs to the Hillsborough’s Farmers Market we lined up for glory for the following exercises:

  • Dominoes: right hand up/5 Merkins/ left hand up down the line
  • Reverse Dominoes: left hand up/ 5 Merkins/ right hand up down the line
  • Dragon Walk: over the gravel parking lot we crushed some rocks and glided like Komodo Dragons

The Pax Ricky Bobby’s (Indian Run) back to alternating jogging and high knees to Balls de Negras for some Mary.
