Escalatin’ Durm’s Doom and Gloom

Today, we took a 2-mile running tour of Durham with an escalator interspersed at various points.  There was gloom, and there was doom; the former was expected and welcome, the latter was in the form of an escalator that got pretty doomy by the end of our workout.  I expected maybe 10-12 for Honey Badger today, but in true Honey Badger fashion, it did not care, and 21 showed up ready to get after it to kick off the weekend.

What struck me this morning is just how much F3 has grown in Durham, particularly in North Durham.  Kudos to all the guys like Soda and Happy (among others) who are headlocking guys left and right, and to all of those supporting the growth in the sub-region.  It had been a little while since I posted up here, and there’s no better sign of growth than not knowing the majority of guys who are already regulars at the AO!  Love to see it – you can feel the energy and camaraderie growing!

The Thang:

Run down Magnum to the big lawn outside of aLoft.

  • 10 triple-merkin burpees.  Bear crawl to the American flag, 20 merkins, 20 jump squats, crawl bear back.

Run up Willard St. (a big hill), as fast as you can, to the lawn next to the bus station.

  • 10 triple-merkin burpees
  • 10 jump lunge/squats (Lt. Dans but with a jump lunge either leg).

Run to the parking lot next to Parker and Otis.  Broken wheelbarrow to the first light, switch to partner, broken wheelbarrow to the second light, one-legged bunny hop all the way back.

  • 10 triple-merkin burpees
  • 10 jump lunge/squats
  • 20 little man jumping jacks (Smurf Jacks for the initiated)

Run back to City Hall (little less than a mile).
