WHEN: 08/17/2018
QIC: Shake It
PAX: Blue Indian, Green Egg, Weenie Roast, Roach, Justice, Magellan, GNV, Larry Legend, Dial Up, Happy Trees, Baggins, Gordon Gecko, Sal Pal

Thank you to Happy Gilmore for being a good site Q, and reminding me that I had the Q this week.  I had it written down on my calendar, but just hadn’t taken a glance at my calendar lately. There’s not too much cluttering a teacher’s schedule over the summer.  Last time I lead the Honey Badger I had a lot of anxiety about leading a workout in downtown Durham because I had no idea where places that would be useful for a workout were located.  This morning was a lot different. I moved to North Durham 5-6 weeks ago, and I’ve gotten the opportunity to familiarize myself with the downtown area. The Pony Run at Ponysaurus on Thursday evenings has also been super helpful.

14 PAX met up outside City Hall for another running intensive workout.  It was awesome to see three new faces, which YHC learned had all posted for the first time at Hurricanrana.

Warm-Up:

  • SSH
  • Imperial Walkers
  • Slow Squats
  • Merkins

The Thang:

YHC told the PAX that we would be journeying to East Campus.  We would make our way there via Morgan St. At every traffic light we stopped to complete 5 burpees.

Once we arrived at East Campus YHC realized that the wall that borders the campus was too tall for what was originally planned.  The PAX helped YHC find a lower piece of wall that we would be able to do our work on, but unfortunately we would have to cut out the box jumps as intended.  PAX partnered up for a Dora: 100 burpees, 200 derkins, and 300 dips. It didn’t take long for the Dora to take its toll on the PAX. In fact, YHC wouldn’t be surprised if none of our pairs finished all the reps.

*Unfortunately, during the Dora, Dial Up suffered an injury to his foot.  Not surprisingly, Dial Up kept trying to push through it, but luckily common sense won out, and he decided to sit the rest of it out.  Blue Indian took off back to the AO to grab his car to provide emergency transportation.

With about 9 minutes left on the clock we made our way back to the AO via Main Street. 2.9 miles of travel today. Not too shabby.

Mary:

Not this time.  0 for 2 on Mary this week.  Something YHC still needs to work on when doing travelling Q’s.

COT:

  • Prayers for a quick recovery for Dial Up.
