Civil Waricides

April 9, 2018

WHEN: 04/09/2018
QIC: Appomattox
PAX: Beano, Au Jus, Timber, Shooter, Hux, Pink, TB, Kassel, EPO, Champ, Blackball, Shake It, Uzi, Slug

Today being the 153rd anniversary of event from which YHC’s F3 name is derived (Lee’s surrender to U.S. Grant at Appomattox Court House), YHC jumped at the chance to take the helm today, and to incorporate that memory into today’s workout.

3 challenged Laurel Hill in preparation for the upcoming Tarheel 10 Miler (T-Claps to those hearty souls), and 12 other PAX arrived outside Kenan Stadium to begin the week correctly.

Warmup:

SSH, IW, Good Mornings, WMH, Slow Merkin x 10, Mountain Climbers x 20

The Thang:

Mosey down the hill to parking lot below Rams head plaza. Once there, PAX partnered up for modified doracides–what I should have then termed Civil Waricides. Instead of the usual 100-200-300 count, we took the 153rd anniversary of Appomattox as our guiding star and went 153, 253, 353: 153 merkins, 253 LBCs, and 353 bodyweight squats per pair. When not performing the exercise, the other partner pounded up and down the hill, then switched.

Between the LBCs and squats, Beano led the PAX in a potpourri of planks. When all PAX had finished, we moseyed across the parking lot to the base of the hill back up to the Kenan AO and began a bear crawl to the top. PAX stopped 1/3 of the way up for 20 dips, then switched to crawl bear. 2/3 of the way up, PAX halted for a bout with the people’s chair, then 20 more dips. The final crawl brought us to the top. Props to Slug for absolutely demolishing the last stretch. YHC could have sworn he heard someone proclaim that had Lee been confronted with the crawl, he would have surrendered sooner.

Mary:

Planks/stretching of the hip flexors, LSF, Hammers, 10 WWIIs, and scene.
