I loved (old) AC/DC growing up. In fact, I can still remember my eyes wide, joyous laughter upon  hearing “Big Balls” on vinyl at my neighbors house as a pre-pubescent kid.  So Dirty!!  So the opportunity to bring Angus and company into a workout was something I’d been looking forward to. And I thought the one year anniversary was as good as any, so there you go.  For those who want to relive the music portion, get the playlist here:   https://itunes.apple.com/us/playlist/acdc-thicket/pl.u-yRGLFPGDyz

Announcements

The Thicket has a new site Q!  Marky Mark handed the reigns over to Chum today.  T-claps to both men. Marky Mark continues to be such a big part of the growth here in Chatham and he’s so inspiring (see BOM).  Chum clearly has a knack for this stuff given the incredible work he did running the Gambler CSAUP, BBQs, etc. He’s another HIM. Aye.

Kudos to Zook for organizing and managing the first Healthy Kids Running Series event here in Briar Chapel on Sunday. And many thanks to those who jumped in to help him out.

The Bull is happening this Saturday, 4/14. Grunge is headed up and encouraging everyone to join him for a great event with a great cause.  Hit him up or check out the Bull channel in Slack.

BOM

Today was my 1 year anniversary with f3. As with most of you, it’s been life changing.  I wanted to make the workout extra hard today to celebrate the First F and how far many of us longer-timers have come since the early days.

The first few workouts were extremely hard for me. I thought I was in decent shape but the hard truth was that I wasn’t. I was the six (Adolphus came to pick me up after the AYG sprints nearly killed me at the end of the workout). You can say that was a bit of a wake-up call and I’ve not looked back since (minus a few weeks or months on the DL). My progress has been relatively modest (lost 12 pounds, dropped a few pant sizes) but I feel great, sleep great, and am probably in the best shape I’ve been in 20 years.  That’s thanks to all of the PAX that push me to improve and work. I particularly want to call out Marky Mark who was there to pull me back into a Yanni-fueled traveling burpee suck fest at the Cougar in the early days.  And he continues to push and encourage me to this day.

So while the 2nd and 3rd F’s get most of the love in our BOMs, I wanted to remind everyone about the value and benefits of the first F.  Let’s keep at it and keep improving ourselves physically and emotionally in the process.  Looking forward to year 2, men. Aye.
